Rate for 1 pound USPS Ground Advantage

Previously with USPS First Class if I entered a weight of 1 pound when purchasing a label, I would be charged the "15.999" ounce rate, and the label would show a weight of 15.9oz. I believe this also occurred when Ground Advantage was first introduced. Now if I enter 1 pound, I am charged the silly USPS 1 pound rate that applies to no actual packages. For example, for a zone 8 package that weighs 15.5oz, if I enter 15oz, the cost is $6.66. If I enter 1lb, the cost is $8.44, when it should still be $6.66. The shipping label page does not allow me to enter decimal weights. I know that the 15oz price is correct for the package, but will the package be flagged as overweight in the USPS system if the label says 15oz and it really weighs 15.5oz?

Re: Rate for 1 pound USPS Ground Advantage

New rates went up last week and such Sunday.

I asked Saturday about International Shipping for a letter and got no answer at the post office.

Not everyone will be on the same page maybe for a few days or heaven help us a few weeks.

Expect the unexpected.

Re: Rate for 1 pound USPS Ground Advantage

The package will not be flagged since the rate for 13 - 15.999 oz is the same. There is nothing to upcharge.

You cannot enter 1 lb because USPS did a weird thing where they implemented a different rate for that .001 oz difference.

Just enter 15 oz and call it a day.

Re: Rate for 1 pound USPS Ground Advantage

Anything basically less than 1 lb you should put 15.

The system does adjustments when you change tiers.

Since 15 oz and 15.999 are the same tier, then no adjustment will happen unless they weigh it at 1 lb or greater.

Since eBay doesn't allow decimals I've always put 15 oz and never had an issue.
