Question regarding a return issue?

So I will just roughly paste what the conversation thus has been...

Buyer:

I got your delivery yesterday of products ordered from you I was out of town I just returned home they were damanged the box is dented and pieces are all checked I would like a refund
On monies paid I took pic as I opened the box I did not remove any of the bubble rap I wanted you to see what he post office had done and how it was delivered
I look forward hearing back from you
I will say I am upset I so was looking to add these to my current set that was my mother
In laws thank you robin Ciciarelli
If you send me your email I will forward pics

Me:

I am so sorry, and disappointed the Post Office did not treat the item with fragility which I explicitly said to them. Unfortunately I am not permitted to lend out my email as it is stated in Ebay's policy. Please take photos of the damage and send them here. There is a 'Attach Photos' button next to the 'Send Message' button. I will make sure to note it to USPS as well. I will gladly refund you the money once the item is shipped back to me.
Buyer:

Sarah I would gladly ship these back but they are busted broken it will cost another $14 to mail back can you refund me $15 and I will call it even with you I will send these photos also attached thank you

I am not entirely sure what to do from here on out, and I still have not received the photos and am not sure if she is implying that she will only send the photos once I refund?

Re: Question regarding a return issue?

Is this for the au gratin dishes?

Esentially you are gambling on whether or not all the pieces are broken.  Only you know how well you packed them. The way I pack, I doubt if all the pieces would be broken. Also it's odd that she doesn't want all her money back. If they really are all broken you are paying 14 bucks to get some rubble shipped back to you.

If nothing is really broken, then she would be getting them for half price.

I would tell her to go ahead and send the pics so you can determine if it's worth paying for postage back.

Re: Question regarding a return issue?

I packed them very well, with dividers, copious amounts of bubble wrap. Also, they are very durable dishes. Years ago I dropped one on a hard surface and it didn't even effect the glaze. I made USPS put fragile on it, sent it flat rate priority so there is $50 insurance...

Re: Question regarding a return issue?

I think she's fishing for a partial refund. If the dishes are broken $15 isn't going to change that. If you shipped priority you can try filing an insurance claim if she sends pictures otherwise tell her to return for a refund. Suggest she open a return request that way you can accept the return and have eBay issue the label and get a FVF credit once she's returned the items and been refunded.

Re: Question regarding a return issue?

@old_new_and_interesting Honestly I would just instruct her on how to open a return request and tell her that once she's done that, you will approve the return and send her a prepaid label. And then stop communicating. Once you've accepted the return the ball is in her court and she has 5 business days to ship the items back. If the tracking shows no acceptance scan on day 6 call eBay and get the return closed in your favor. This will block her from being able to leave negative feedback.

I agree with missjen. It is doubtful 10 separate pieces would be broken. That line about her having to pay shipping back is **bleep**. Everybody but a stone cold newbie knows the seller would pay return shipping. She is probably a professional fisher of partial refunds. Just tell her to open a return request in order to return for a refund. Most likely she will give up. She might neg you out of spite, to which you would reply that you offered a return for items damaged by USPS.

ETA: LOL...they bleep a common two letter acronym?
