Question on sending First Class

If I have a DVD I want to ship to a buyer and it weighs 5 oz, I would use First Class shipping?

Ie send anything under 16 oz First Class?

USPS doesn’t provide any bubble envelopes for First Class though - and we can’t use any of the Priority Mail bubble envelopes- right?

So I would have to buy my own bubble envelopes to ship the DVD?

Do I have my info straight?

Yes... the USPS doesn't offer mailers for First Class service. You can use your own bubble mailers or a box.

A small box would offer better protection than just a bubble mailer. You know buyers get about damaged items.

Re: Question on sending First Class

The free USPS Priority Mail packaging can only be used for Priority Mail. For any other service you must provide your own packaging.

When you purchase postage online, including through eBay, the weight limit for First Class packages is 15.99 ounces.  If purchased at the PO counter, the weight limit is 13 ounces (and it costs more).

The current prices for First Class packages are in 4-ounce increments.  So shipping a 5-ounce envelope would cost the same as shipping an 8-ounce box. If you use an envelope, put a couple pieces of cardboard in it; a DVD needs protection against bending.

DVDs can also be shipped as USPS Media rate, which may actually save you some money on shipping charges.

Re: Question on sending First Class

There are small flat dvd boxes that can be had for shipping that run about 50 cents. Or sandwich the dvd between two scrap pieces of cardboard and slip into a padded mailer. Either way ends up about the same cost and weight.
