Question - USPS - Accepted my Item and no more tracking updates.

Question - I shipped an item on September 15th and dropped it off at the counter and got the label scanned.  Since then no updates on tracking just says item in possession .  I started a "find my package" on Saturday 9/23 and they haven't found it yet.  Now the buyer wants a refund.  Do I wait until USPS closes the case or do I go ahead and give a refund now?

So you can advise him to open an INR.

Then I would wait to process it, I would even let them escalate to case after 3 days. Making sure you upload the tracking and say it's in possession with the carrier and you are working with the carrier.

Before the case ends, I'd issue a refund so eBay doesn't, however this gives you time to see if it shows back up.

Submit an insurance claim as soon as allowed for missing package.

Only reason you wait is because sometimes they find it and deliver it. If you voluntarily refund there is no take backs and they can keep item after it eventually shows up.
