Problems with Priority Mail

Hey guys. Package I shipped (Priority) was out for delivery, and now: delivered status not updated. Do I have to call USPS or they know that the scan is missing or they lost a package? Really, is it so hard to scan a package before leaving it in a mailbox???? Customer can say that didn't get it and I would have to return money ($80.00)

My package from Chicago to Florida is in transit from six days (Priority). Should be there after two days. I need to return money to my customer ($150.00).

When I called USPS about First Class they told me to ship via Priority Mail if I want them fast. I started shipping via Priority so now telling me to ship via Express. And later what? Overnight?

I don't want to fight with them anymore. I don't have to sell. Just doing it because I like my customers but I'm losing money and my items and it's not my fault.

Re: Problems with Priority Mail

Same problem.   Notice using tracking number shows PO in Jupiter, Florida received package after 5 PM ebevn though it was taken to PO in the morning.  Then next notice shows receipt two days later shortly after 7 AM at Vancouver, WA.  Next notice show receipt 15 1/2 half hours later at Vancouver, WA PO.  Next notice shows receipt at Portland, OR on day later.  (Drivingfrom Vancouver PO to Portland PO would take approximately 30 minutes since they are just across the Columbia River fronm each other with freeway access.  USPS contacted and asked where my package was and what the delay was.  Reply received stating that if I want  better service that I should pay more for Prioity Express mail.   Even though more is charged for 2 day Priority mail it is no better than 1st Class mail for delivery times.  In fact 2 day Priority is a misnomer since it can mean anything the USPS wants it to mean.  Also they could not locate my package with tracking number.  USPS support is a joke.   After 4 1/2 half days USPS can not say if or when I will get the package.  I appreciate the seller sending it Two Day Priority mail but  USPS is a different story.   Unfortunately, UPS or FedEx are probably better choices for more reliable service.

Re: Problems with Priority Mail

Just this past week I had the same problem with a Priority mail package. It took 6 days to get from Kansas to Texas. And a day before my customer received it it said out for delivery and then a little bit later it was "delivery status not updated".  So much for 2 day priority mail!! With the rising cost of shipping I would think that the Postal service should do a better job than that! 😞

Re: Problems with Priority Mail

I'm still missing a package from 5 years ago. 😞  I had to pay the buyer as she never got her items. It ended up in Jacksonville FL just 10 miles from her house.

Re: Problems with Priority Mail

My problem with Priority Mail is when I use the 24 hour drop box, especially on weekends.  I am retired and use a walker. This problem has happened four times in the recent past. Buyer purchases on Saturday. I box item up, buy & print postage and take parcel to local post office. Put it in the 24 hour drop box in the lobby about 7 pm Saturday night. It says in big letters that box will be emptied at 5 am Monday morning. My last parcel was not entered into the system until Wednesday and was going cross country from Michigan to the West coast, California, I believe. It wasn't delivered until yesterday (Saturday Oct. 20, 2018) so now I have another "Late Delivery" charge against me by eBay. 21 years I've been selling on eBay, 100% feedback, many repeat customers.  I have no control over what the USPS does with a package once I drop it off. During the summer I had a Priority Mail package take a twelve day tour of the U.S.A. Dropped in the box on a Saturday, was going from Michigan to Florida. Didn't enter the system until Tuesday, left Detroit sort, went to Cleveland sort, then to Dallas, then to Utah, back to Dallas then finally to Florida sort 11 days after drop, then to local Florida PO and finally out for delivery on the 12th day. Luckily, I kept in almost daily contact with the buyer who had a great sense of humor. She could watch the same tracking debacle as me. Box arrived in her words "as clean as a whistle", was delighted with item and left me excellent feedback. eBay called it another "Late Delivery". I've only sold about 60 items this past year but eBay says 13% have been "Late". I ship a package the same day someone buys it, have no control over what happens once it's in the delivery companies hands, but "I" am late. It's so darn frustrating. Thanks for letting me vent.
