I was automatically issued a First Class Return label when returning a 2 pound item (which originally had free shipping). I asked about it on the boards a few days ago and several posters told me that First Class returns can weigh up to 70 lbs.
I went to the post office yesterday to have the package scanned, which it was. The clerk then decided to weigh the item, said it was over the weight limit for First Class and canceled the transaction. Was she in the wrong? I tried to find info on the USPS site to back me up but it says that the weight limit on First Class Return Service is 13 oz. I can't find anything "official" online and most of the posts regarding this subject are actually from the eBay boards.
Is my only option to print my own Priority label? The return is supposed to be mailed by 8/3 and I haven't heard back from my seller after messaging them. I'm concerned about being charged for the First Class label though - the tracking number is now live though it's obviously not being updated.

i doubt they said that.... think you need to read it again...and be sure you read more than the first answer.
and USPS has a web site, i'm sure there is information there..or even GOOGLE, I'm sure you could have verified what 1st class is....
BUT yes you have to use the next option, and that is priorty...depending on what..box or envelope....

eBay charges the label only when it's been used.
Is this a NAD return or remorse? It makes a difference who pays for it.

Buyer's remorse - I bought a pair of jeans that didn't fit me. I would be the one paying for shipping.
If the label wasn't used, you won't be charged through paypal. I would track the "package", if the clerk didn't do an acceptance scan, you should be able to drop the package in the mail box with the same label.
