Printing UPS Labels from eBay - Better Prices - but I CAN'T BUY INSURANCE?!

I was happy to see eBay was adding UPS to their shipping label page, since the eBay calculator prices and my UPS Worldship prices are out of sync...
Now I have my first sale that needs to go UPS Ground, and was pleased to see my price was MUCH better than my UPS account was going to charge me. BUT THEN - I see no place to buy ADDITIONAL INSURANCE!  I'd hate to ship a $400 item with only $100 of coverage! But I am loathe to pay basically DOUBLE the shipping cost (like $55 EXTRA), just to be able to buy another $300 insurance!
I read that someone was told the insurance feature just hadn't been added to the new UPS shipping page - REALLY?!  I have a couple days before I actually have to ship this package, so maybe eBay will catch up; I HOPE!!!

I just posted the same thing, I was on the phone w/ eBay for 30min, they couldn't figure it out.

If what you say is correct, they shouldn't have released this web interface,

I have been having to use UPS.com to purchase shipping labels, as I could not ship a $1200 item without insurance.

I've had enough issues with managed payments, and don't need more to deal with. eBay needs to get this cr*# figured out before they release new things!

(I realize you were replying to someone else but) FedEx does not service a lot of areas. They will not even pick up here.

Re: Printing UPS Labels from eBay - Better Prices - but I CAN'T BUY INSURANCE?!

Years ago I used FedEx, until they damaged 2 packages within a short period of time, and declined to pay either insurance claim.

(By the way, I have packed and shipped thousands of mostly fragile items over the past 20 years, and damage is extremely rare. In fact, 1 item they damaged was the ONLY item I ever had anyone else package for me, by a FedEx store. They dumped a large, heavy, expensive item off the back of the truck into my customer's driveway and just left it there, when no one was home! Despite charging me an EXTRA $50 "special handling" fee, that was the service I got. It was neither packed nor delivered properly...)
Furthermore, the main UPS hub for my area is only 1 mile from my house, more convenient even than my local Post Office, so that is my go-to for extra large/heavy packages. Fortunately, when extra insurance is necessary, I can still print my own labels using my own account and WorldShip software. Though the cost might not be quite as good, it is better than risking high-value shipments without insurance.
I just don't understand why eBay is offering us HALF a service.

Looks like eBay and UPS have made a deal to undercut the post office. Once the post office dies, UPS can raise its prices back to its usual skyhigh. Don’t let the post office die, they still have the best service and the best prices overall!

Seems like eBay and UPS have made a deal to undermine the post office. Once the post office is dead, UPS can raise its prices as much as it likes. Support the post office; it still has the best service, best prices, and is a precious public institution we will sorely miss if we let it go.

Re: Printing UPS Labels from eBay - Better Prices - but I CAN'T BUY INSURANCE?!

To add,

I'm shipping another Item UPS w/ $300 value, they still haven't sorted out their interface. I called and they admitted there issue w/no option for added Declared Value / insurance.

My second issue is that the customer paid for the item and the incorrect shipping w/ $100 insurance. I got the accurate shipping directly from UPS and I need to invoice the buyer. I was on the phone w/ eBay for 45min and they couldn't figure out a way to invoice a buyer after they paid and the shipping label.

eBay & Paypal has restricted so much that this option is not available. Man they charge 10% and want every dam penny when you a transaction.  I'm on a number of other auction/sales sights and its much more fluid.

been on ebay since 97' and getting sick of it.

You may want to consider a third part insurer until this is sorted out.  Best I have found is Ship Saver (not ship cover), which is under the ebay app tab.  Cheaper, easier, and integrates with ebay.
