I also see that happening with packages I send out. I spoke with the Post Master who said they hire a third party company to transport mail from one PO to the next and are supposed to scan the packages as they are put onto and off their trucks but most of the time they don’t bother to scan. My packages will receive an acceptance scan then after about a week finally a scan at the destination PO then a delivery scan.
Not much we can do about it, as long as there is an acceptance scan within your handling time you’ll receive no defects.

Not seeing much of that on my end thru AMZ or eBay shipping. Using 1st Class Package and USPS Priority for the non expensive items and UPS Ground for the expensive products.
I dont use any of the sub-standard services such as Parcel Select, Media Mail, or the eBay envelopes.
Have not had an INR case opened on eBay or AMZ over the last ~1500 or so orders.

So the PO "Manager" (not the Postmaster?) says it's because carriers are not doing their job?
Isn't it her job to make sure they are doing their job?

Have not had a message about a lost or slow item in 10 years/over 20,000 packages shipping out both Priority and 1st Class.
So, I don't believe it is anywhere near 'widespread'.

I had to discontinue using USPS going to Newark, NJ (where there is a freight forwarder") it became so bad....that facility is a total cluster F.....Lost packages (twice in a month and still "MIA"), no scans...terrible. UPS seems to have no issue going there so it is worth spending a little more for the peace of mind. Anyone else experience this from Newark (through the Wilmington dist center)??

SERIOUSLY???
Because we've had a Priority box take 29 days to get to Washington. But my favorite was a package that went from the Dallas hub (my hub), to the Chicago hub, BACK to the Dallas hub , BACK to the Chicago hub, BACK to the Dallas hub, and then finally back to the Chicago hub and finally delivered. Took about 3 weeks.
You exist in a whole different world then us Texans, I guess....must be nice.

Same here.

Are you using the "schedule a pickup" function with USPS? Or sending packages out with the daily mail delivery, without a scheduled pickup?
The scheduling a pickup function puts a higher priority on scanning the package and getting it on its way. The letter carrier is supposed to scan it when they pick it up.
With the informal putting the package out for the letter carrier without scheduling a pickup, the packages are submitted to a clerk back at the post office, and sometimes not scanned until the following day, or lost for several days, getting the seller a late shipment demerit.
The only other option is going up to the post office, waiting in line, ask for "scan and receipt", and have the counter clerk scan the package in front of you.

No problems where I live in San Francisco. I guess it depends what city or town you live in. Of course, I mail everything in person in the post office using stamps.
The post office currently now lets their employees relocate anyone in the USA to grab a job opening. A lot of employees are doing that relocating to a more exciting and better weather related city.
I was happy to leave Chicago and relocate to a better weather environment.

Yes It Is Her Job!, I Was Thinking The Same Thing When I Spoke With Her!, Even The Manager DOESN'T DO THEIR JOB!!

It's Still Very Bothersome!, It Does Not Take Much Effort To Scan The Packages!

No I Drop Off My Packages, They Do Scan Them In Front Of Me, It's After They Leave No One Else Is Scanning

Usually such problems are localized - to a certain post office or mail distribution center. Over all the postal system works fairly well. Here in Florida the Orlando mail distribution facility has been known for backlogs and not scanning packages. Thankfully most of my packages go through the Jacksonville facility.
However, considering the recent weather events across a lot of the country for the past week - I would expect an uptick in problems temporarily. It has already affected sales - my only sales since last Friday have been to GA, NC, FL, and Alaska. I'm just as happy not having to ship to California and the northern parts of the Midwest right now.

When the Postmaster General has heavy investments in courier and delivery companies, and was specifically hired to put the Post Office out of business, are you really surprised?
My only surprise is that President Biden didn't fire him as soon as he took office.
But I understand that he has to wait until the USPS Board of Directors has enough members who are not appointed by Republicans to get deJoy gone, since that is the way the USPS was set up in order to avoid political interference.
Never vote for someone to do a job that he doesn't believe in. Don'telect people who don't believe in government.
