Possible lost package, also how does Shipcover payout?

@shipcover_insurance

Few Questions and a background explanation at the end

1) How does shopcover payout if I have managed payments? Do they send the money through that to ebay? Do I receive the full amount of the item plus tax? Or do I receive the amount -12.35% ebay’s cut?

2) Question on refunds: When a buyer opens a request, it holds the entire item amount. Like If I sold an item for $500 but ebay paid me $438.25 due to their cut, do I have to refund the full $500? Does ebay keep their cut? I am on managed payments.

3) I understand shipcover cannot be used till 30 days after the estimated delivery. Is the estimated delivery the ETA shown when I click the tracking number on Ebay?

4) If that is true, how can a buyer open an item not received request if they must do it before 30 days? From what I read, the shipcover for proof says after a claim is filed a buyer can open an item not received for proof but it sounds like a buyer cannot do this after 30 days.

Background story:

I have a VERY patient buyer. I mailed out a package via USPS priority mail about 17 days ago and it was last scanned at the distribution center in Phoenix.

A package research case was opened March 1st and then closed March 3rd. The buyer said that USPS basically said if it wasn’t delivered by now its lost or damaged.

The buyer is still being patient and since the item was $500, and a collector’s item rare to find they want the item.

Thus, they are patiently waiting. I plan to go to the post office today to ask as it was last scanned at the distribution center in  AZ where I live. (It never left my state)

Anyways, I want to provide my buyer the best route as they are willing to wait. Thus, is it ok to ask them to wait the full 30’days for the shipcover? I want to make sure I could refund them with the insurance money and not causs them to lose the item and money.

thanks

@agemelee

I don't know how shipcover works, but the buyer need to file an INR within 30 days of the estimated delivery date to be covered by the MBG.

If the package is lost, the buyer doesn't have to wait for their refund.

You refund the buyer, then you deal with the insurance when it's time.

Have a great day.

Possible lost package, also how does Shipcover payout?

I had this similar situation a few weeks ago.  It was resolved before I had to make the ShipCover Claim.

I spoke with eBay Shipping Department and what they told me is that after the buyer files a Item Not Received Claim to call them immediately and they would give a 10 to 15 day extension to allow a Claim to be filed.  This is what they were doing because of shipping delays.  Things change everyday so who know if they are doing the same extension?

If your buyer is working with you I would ask them to file Item Not Received Claim on the 29th day.  This way when you call eBay and get an extension hopefully ShipCover will resolve the claim within the extension time.

If you sent the package by USPS you can file a Insurance Claim with them 7 days after their Search is Started.  This is when my package turned up.  They do not want to pay for the Insurance Claim so they will actually go look for the package at this point.

You said the Search Claim is completed.  You may be able to file the claim on-line now.  I would try and see what happens.

Shipcover is terrible! The buyer has to verify that they didn't receive that package to get your insurance payout, and sending proof from USPS tracking or other delivery services that a package was not delivered is not substantial proof for them. The BUYER MUST confirm. Many scammers and fraudulent buyers will order expensive products, cancel it saying it's an unauthorized charge once you ship the item, then pick it up from the delivery driver truck so it never gets scanned as delivered. This common scam will leave you at a loss because shipcover will not cover it and the scamming buyer can do this without letting the seller give them 0 stars. Slipcover is terrible because if the buyer is not cooperative with you, you will take the loss no matter what other proof you can provide to them.
