How is payment made for eBay standard envelopes?
I just bought my first one (on a 2.99 stamp lot). Never did this before. When I went to purchase, a popup for me to authorize Paypal did not happen. I don't see it on my invoice.
Do they charge me for it when it's scanned later?

They should take it out of your payout, along with the other fees.

Hi there! :-}
Let me know how that works out for tracking. I won't use the Standard Envelope due to the terrible roll out and dozens of negative reports from early adopters.

idk but know the "tracking" is garbage

at the bottom of the shipping label page you are given the choice to pay via PayPal or pending payouts, check the desired box

When I buy all other labels, it comes from Paypal (because my payout is in Canadian funds and the eBay weekly chat told me it's not compatible). A window pops up for me to approve which account to take the Paypal money from (balance or a credit card/bank account).
Nothing popped up. Nothing shows in Paypal. Nothing shows in the payments section (where fees are recorded).
So I'm just wondering where this magical 51 cents came from to pay for my envelope because I'm not seeing it here.

My payout & fees are in Canadian funds, and I was told that's not compatible with buying postage.
I know when using eBay standard delivery you aren't charged until the label is used. The ESE has a similar type of tracking number on it. Am I going to be charged for this later?

There is supposed to be insurance to $20 on these items, in the event of an INR claim.
When I went to purchase the label a warning came up to let me know what is and is not acceptable for a ESE. One thing it said was no plastic. Normally with FC letters I use a labelop that has a clear plastic top to put my label in. If they say no plastic and people are doing this with the ESE envelopes that might explain why so many are never arriving... I know there are scammers, but I can't believe there are that many scammers for under $20 items (especially if it's not something you can resell for $20). Some of the reports are pretty extreme on how many packages are going missing.
I'm going to use packing tape to tape my label down on the envelope. If plastic is not permitted I don't see any other way. It's a piece of paper and I have to stick it to the envelope somehow.

The alternative is for me to put a $1.20 stamp on it in a regular envelope and mail it. I won't make any money if I need to charge FC postage on these, the items are mostly under $3.
Since regular mail has no tracking I figured the ESE is a better solution. It's 51 cents (and I can't even mail something across town in Canada for that). Lots of people selling little stamp lots of low value are using letter postage to mail them.

try glue... but it's not the plastic that is the issue, it's the crud tracking...it's not issued by USPS but a 3rd party so USPS isn't responsible for it. The benefit was for card sellers etc... to send item cheap and get a tracking, the tracking is what sellers want but it has a lot of issues. Seen tons of threads on this since they started it, seems your chances of the tracking being scanned and showing a delivery are about 50/50.

i hear you, it's a dilemma that idk if will ever truly be fixed, unless USPS or other carriers start service that can add tracking, but then it would be more then the $0.20 or whatever charge ebay is giving for ESE.

With Managed Payment EBAY "holds back" shipping money for you to use to print labels. When you print labels (go to bottom of page) and you click on "use pending funds". Or use can chose PayPal but remember no money goes INTO your PayPal account anymore (you would have to deposit money to cover labels).

That doesn't apply to me. My pending funds are in Canadian dollars so there's no way I can use them to pay for postage. (This was confirmed in weekly chat). I expected something to pop up with Paypal for me to approve it like it always does with FC tracked letters, but this didn't happen, which is why I wanted to know how I'm paying for this postage.

The only item I ever purchased where the seller used ESE never tracked beyond "label created". Just looked back and to this day, that's still the status. They certainly weren't lying when they said there would be fewer tracking updates!🤣
I left the seller feedback so that he at least had the peace of mind of knowing it arrived.

this isn't true, when you select eBay standard envelope, it automatically selects take funds from payouts and removes paypal as an option... just confirmed it 12-4-2024
