A seller let me know that they may have lost the tracking number but that the item was well-packaged and shipped. Based on the seller's location, and since method is USPS First Class, I thought I could find it using Informed Delivery. I found every other incoming package, even ones in pre-shipment, and matched all of them to other sellers based on their locations, but could not find one coming from this seller.
Is it possible that this one just happened to be the one that Informed Delivery missed?

Yes, it is possible that it may not show up automatically in your Informed Delivery account. I have had that happen a few times. Sometimes it was because it had not been scanned by USPS yet, and it showed up once it had been scanned. Occasionally, I had to add the tracking # manually, which obviously isn't going to be an option for you.
If it was first-class package, it should have a tracking number. First class items that are not "packages" don't get tracked.
