So I never have had this happen before.
I had a seller ship an item with no tracking and after a few days of it not arriving I asked for that info. They however never replied. I waited 2 more days for a reply (now 7 days past expected delivery) and no response ...so I open a case. The item arrived a few days later. Sadly it was broken and I had to contact seller for return. They never replied so
I opened a new case up for a return and the seller accepted the return but refuses to provide a shipping label. So I had to wait 4 more days for ebay to step in and auto send me one. I ship it back finally...and now my item was oUT for delivery and then it updates that it was being forwarded due to address error or zip code error. I have no idea where it is now going, i even contacted usps and was told they too didn't know that it went to a shipping distribution center. And they are investigating it. ?!
They say not to worry and to just wait more. So 3 days go by...I now decided to call ebay since for 3 days now it has been in a 'in transit' on its way to destination which I can't even seem to get an update on where that is. I was under the impression that if a seller didn't let ebay know of a new address different from one on file they'd just settle the dispute in my favor. But they too are telling me to wait. It's been weeks now. This is so beyond frustrating having my money on hold a package going to nowehreville ...and not even sure if I'll win this case. The seller doesn't even reply to me anymore. And yes. This was a usa transaction.
Am I being paranoid due to sellers lack of a reply? Is this normal for ebay to keep.me waiting even when they are telling me they don't know where the package is being forwarded ? WI'll ebay side with them if this package never gets a delivered status?!

We all know that forwarding a package from the original address a seller shipped to voids the eBay MBG.
So wouldn't having a package forwarded from the original return address, indicate that the buyer is "off the hook" and the package is deem delivered & thus due a refund?
You're conflating reshipping (freight forwarding) with mail forwarding (change of address).
But yes, eBay considers all mail delivery problems as though the tracking is Delivered, e.g. Notice left, Refused, Unable to deliver, etc.

Call ebay again. they are not supposed to delay your refund. You did your part.

Call eBay again. That long of a wait is ridiculous. Your seller seems to be a bad seller too. Sorry this happened.

This Is Exactly What I asked. If the shoe was on the other foot as soon as the package is updated as forwarded, the seller would have been off the hook for any issues that may have occured. I asked ebay why I was not being given the same courtesy during the return to seller process?
It took a few times putting me on hold..and finally I got my refund issued. The package is still in transit as of yesterday. I didn't check today. It's out of my hands at this point.
From what ebay told me, the seller had the package 'intercepted' thus voiding their protection.
The ebay member I spoke to before wanted me to wait longer and that didn't sit well with me. Called again, as advised after reading up on policies and got my refund
Thanks everyone.
