Order returned

I had a order return using eBay standard envelope weighing .6 oz saying I needed 40 cents more postage. Not the first time this has happened.

Your feedback profile page says otherwise @12345jamesstamps . Why do you think you're not TRS?

Your dashboard should show you 3 ratings:

1. Past Seller Level - which shows what you were rated 2 evals ago, as of today that would be the Nov 20th eval.

2. Current Seller Level - which shows your current status as of the last seller eval (obviously), as of today that would be the Dec 20th eval.

3. If we evaluated you today - which is a foreshadowing of what to expect come Jan 20th when eBay does the next seller eval.

At minimum you should see Top Rated next to Current Seller Level since that's what your FB page reflects. https://sellerstandards.ebay.com/dashboard?region=US

P.S. Congrats on the "not one lost item in the past year" stat - that's an excellent record for shipping without tracking.

Re: Order returned

Stamp collectors and buyers insist on sellers using stamps to mail their items. That is one way of getting some sort of feedback vs. zero feedback.

I usually don't buy anything other than stamps on eBay.

Too many people stealing in stores and trying to sell items online and items not getting delivered to the buyers.

"Why do you think your're not TRS?"....tracking of course....stated next day shippings....returns(is it 30 days)?

When the snow hits the Chicago area...I guess we will see who complains about their items with tracking sitting in a hub(s).

I am going to ask that question in the next open forum here where eBay can answer those questions about tracking.

I have open tracking on some items since February 2023 and someone mentioned due to it not saying "delivered" they are not covered by eBay tracking.

"one scan anywhere along the way and fail to get delivered"...I don't think that works for "freight forward" as delivered where item doesn't state "delivered"...someone here said not covered...and the words "in transit to next facility". And I also have another one like that as "registered mail" saying "this item is currently in transit to the destination. These are open trackings....are they covered?

If the buyer files a claim within the 30 day MBG window claiming non-receipt, then anything without a delivery attempt on tracking is not covered under seller protections and the seller will be required to refund.

I have no problem mailing things with stamps, that is the way I used to ship cards before standard envelope. I just won't buy forever stamps on the secondary market as most of those are questionable.

Also, if you are going to use top loaders in standard envelope, which I suggest you do not, then ALWAYS offset the top loader to one side of the envelope or another (taping it inside). This allows the envelope to fold in half which lets it pass 95 percent of postal workers made up envelope standards.

What works much better and still doesn't get damaged is using CCG card sleeves and sticking 2 or 3 sports cards in the sleeve with the purchased card. The machines never get hung up on that and you still almost never get damage. You still want to tape that off center in the envelope.

You may be confusing Top Rated Seller status with a TRS+ listing status. A seller can be Top Rated but not qualify for TRS+. You don't have to offer next day shipping and free returns to be classified as Top Rated. But you do need to meet tracking percentages.

What does your dashboard show?

Re: Order returned

So what good is tracking if it shows not delivered?  "Delivery attempt" on "freight forward" or "registered mail" not showing "delivery attempts" on tracking would mean the buyer has to be honest.

Most tracked packages have a delivered or delivery attempt scan.

The ones that don't are generally insured (up to $100 coverage included or lower coverage in line with ESE limits), so as long as you have a scan of some kind you can file an insurance claim for reimbursement. Exception is Media Mail which is uninsured.

The tracking on eBay standard envelopes is inferior to regular tracking and delivery confirmation, but it still satisfies eBay's shipping/tracking/delivery requirement as far as TRS status is concerned.  That's why they invented it. As noted in the other post, handling time and return policy requirements are tied to TR-Plus status of individual listings, not to a seller's basic TRS status.  Here's yours:

@12345jamesstamps

"So what good is tracking if it shows not delivered?"

If the ESE receives the initial USPS scan at the USPS Distribution Centers, that is all that is necessary for eBay insurance to kick in for lost shipments.

That's why I urge ESE mailers to drop their mailings into the "Metered Mail" slots in the post office lobbies.  That mail is thus already pre-sorted for delivery into the automatic sorting machines at the USPS Distribution Centers.

Re: Order returned

But some sellers are just refunding the buyers...since some buyers can't see tracking as well as some sellers and not all buyers are 100% honest. I wish they were.Meter Mail.jpeg
