Negative feedback when buyer did not ship return

About a month ago, I sold an item to a buyer at the best offer price. About a week after receiving it the buyer contacts me regarding the order and how it did not work. I understood his concerns and assumed it was a faulty device so I offered him a return for a refund or I can send a replacement without the need of a return. The buyer did not respond back and I assumed he got it working. Almost a month later, a few days before the return gate closed he sends a message replying to my choices and chose the return for a refund and I guided him and told him how to make a return. He opened a return a few days later (A day before the gate closed) and never shipped back the item (Which was supposed to be shipped back on May 7th). He just gave me negative feedback for not giving him a refund in which I gladly offered. So I don't know if it's possible to get it removed or not since the buyer was not only unresponsive but had sufficient time to actually make the return.

Thanks!

Why would you want to pay to have a buyer  return an item that was a B.O. on a $5.54  w/ free shipping?   I would have just refunded.

My items aren't quite that inexpensive, but I require a return on every item provided it is in the same condition shipped and have not problem paying return shipping.  If the item isn't in the same condition as shipped, I deny the return.

What does that have to do with the OP's situation?   And if a buyer opens a NAD return like it sounds the OP's buyer did, you can't 'deny the return'.

The OP would most likely have lost money requiring a return so it is pointless to do so.

OK, my point is that even if it costs me money to have the item returned, I still require a return.  Most of the time I get a request for return AND APPROVE IT, the buyer just opts to not return it even though it's being returned on my dime.  There was only one time this bit me in the behind and that was a buyer who really did want to return and they lived in Canada... First INAD shipping I've ever had to actually pay for and it was still worth every penny.  When buyers figure out they don't get to keep my widget and get the money back, they usually change their mind about returning.

As far as denying a NAD return, sure you can.... if the buyer admits the item is no longer in the same condition as shipped, you absolutely can give eBay CS a ringy dingy ad have the NAD return closed in your favor.  No, this part was not applicable to the OP's situation, it was simply a completion of thought.
