I started a Return for an item I received that was non functional. The seller communication was s-l-o-w, and after a few days of no return label or shipping, I asked ebay to step in. Shortly after the seller sent me the cost of the return shipping via paypal. I shipped the item back, and it is still in route.
Here is the mistake that I (hope) will never make again. I thought that "asking to ebay to step in" was helpful, and after the shipping funds were sent, I could "ask ebay to step out", For some reason I thought the "Return Case" was different from the "make this seller send me the cost of shipping case". I closed the case thinking I was simply acknowleding that the seller had paid for shipping. Nope. I closed the return. I am not sure if this mistake is easier to make on the APP then on a Desktop, but its a done deal. I called CS after I realized that mistake, and the damage is done. I have no futher recourse with eBay if the seller decides to not exchange the item. I still have a chance with Paypal, but I have never done that, so we will cross that bridge when/if the time comes.
I did contact the seller and explain the mistake. They said they will send me a replacement when they receive the return. I really hope they do!!!!
Lesson learned. Slow down and be certain that you are following the correct procedures.
