Local Post Offices refusing to handle parcels

Will post offices accept eBay parcels? Post Office staff in my local branch stating they don't have to handle it because uneccessary. Any advice?

I advise you to call B. S.  and ask him to show you this directive in writing. There's nothing on the alerts pages on usps.com about this type of restriction.

My regular USPS carrier comes by every day... hasn't refused mine yet. I've not been to the PO in years.

I shipped about 20 orders yesterday.

No sweat,    No strain.      There was the normal amount of packages piled up on the counter.  

Our retired Postmaster that posts to this board say,    "Don't accept poor service"     Or something like that.

Does that mean they're not accepting packages at all, or are they telling you to drop your packages in the lobby drop chute (or leave them on the counter)? There's certainly no blanket rule on not accepting packages anymore. I'm still mailing mine almost every day, and receiving incoming ones the same way.

Maybe you encountered a clerk who didn't have gloves and didn't want to handle anything incoming.

Not true, from a recently retired Postmaster that stays in touch. Go up the food chain. Ask for a supervisor or Postmaster. Avoid talking to a clerk. If that fails, ask for the phone number of their District Office and Consumer Affairs. Take names and numbers and let them know you are. Ask for the name and number of their MPOO, Mgr Postal Operations Officer and District Mgr's name and number. By that time they will be sweating. If that fails, file an online complaint and contact your Congressperson. You will get their attention sooner or later.  I apologize for the problems you are having with your local office.  Every business has a few. Good luck!

Who are they to decide what is necessary and what is not?  As of late, I have been selling a lot of books for kids.  A Waldo book will keep a child occupied for hours.  With a parent working from home, I would say that book is necessary!!

I haven't been to my local PO in years. The different mail carriers have been picking my packages for years.

Why would they refuse eBay packages? Your local Post office staff are full of it.

Agreed, although I have to say that this issue isn't really UK-specific. If British Post really has stopped accepting parcels, I would find that pretty significant. I hope there's more to this story, or at least that it's some big misunderstanding.

I still stand by my answer!  I am a seller with a child at home and the date for going back to school just was pushed back from April 6 to May 4.  Anything that passes the time is necessary!

Has nothing to do with you.     USPS  is operational.

U.K. post service operates under U.K. rules.
