I am selling locally and buyers are receiving emails a QR code and the text below. It does not appear that I have a way to scan the code. Ideas?

brian@ebay Did eBay bother to send out any kind of instructions on how to use this feature?
@patchyfogco Have you tried scanning the QR with your phone or tablet? If not there's supposed to be a place to enter the 6 digit code. Check your messages to see if eBay sent you information. It would not surprise me at all that eBay completed the Buyer side of this and completely neglected to make sure the seller side works or it available. I mean who needs sellers anyway? (where is that sarcasm font when you need it).

Please have the seller scan the code with the eBay App. If facing issues, enter the 6 digit code.
@patchyfogco sorry for the confusion this has caused! The option to enter the 6 digit code / scan the QR code is coming. We planned to release this feature at the same time as the related emails to buyers, but a gap came up between the two halves of this process being implemented, so emails started going out to buyers before the option to scan the QR code / enter the 6 digit code was released.
For now, seller's may receive messages from their buyers about the confirmation number or the QR code, but they won't need to worry about entering / scanning the code since the option hasn't been implemented just yet.

Same problem here! just met someone and he had a code and a qr... but there is NOTHING in my app that allows for this to be scanned, and NO INFORMATION from ebay on how to do it. I just took a picture. It caused the ebay app to want to open but did not appear to do anyting with the info.

well this is a major issue with regards to seller protection... if sellers are under the impression this serves as proof of pickup ....then a picture of the barcode and its digits should serve as proof for seller protection. Can you confirm that this is not some loophole??? that we are protected since buyers are presenting this as proof to us??
I just sold something the buyer told me about it came and picked up the item we could not figure out how to scan it so i took a picture of it.... I assume that this is proof enough it was delivered. I mean it is proof. I just don't want to get screwed because Ebay couldn't properly schedule their development and deployment.

The suggestion was when talked about on an earlier post, till eBay gets this all worked out, was to write the number down and save it and mark it delivered. If at a later date the code is needed you will have it.

Not helpful at all. It's most likely me because I do not sell a lot nor do I normally do local pickup. But an email to the seller would be nice as an FYI.
I recently had a buyer that did not speak English so the email with the code was in Spanish and since I did not speak Spanish I could not read the email to know what to do.

When I sell something with local pickup only, the proof of pickup is the cash in my pocket.

Absolutely! Cash only and after you pay me, I'll go to my PayPal account and refund you if you've paid me any amount prior to our in-person visit, using PayPal.
Don't know what I can do once MP kicks in, but everyone seems to like this solution. No complaints... as if they could... once they've paid cash and left with the item!
There's no way in the world I'd agree to giving a buyer 180 days (Paypal) / 45 days (eBay) / whatever (credit cards), to damage or alter or even "rent" the item and bring it back for a refund! That's NOT what selling something locally, and in person is about. Bad enough buyers can get away with that online, but when they've inspected it, paid for it and left with it, that should be the end of it.

Is this still an issue? It's 2021 almost one year later and I still do not have access to the scan your code or type in the numbers.
Let me know if something has changed because getting a ding for "not received" is a problem.
Thanks,
DBB
