Most sellers with large pieces would list with LOCAL PICKUP ONLY. Therefore, no shipping as the buyer comes to pick up the item(s) and pay in CASH.
If you are willing to ship the items, make sure you have the packaging already available. Most sellers with large/heavy items would use either UPS Ground or Fed Ex Ground for shipping. If the item weighs more than 70 pounds but less than 250 pounds, then you can specify FREIGHT.

Take them apart if possible. Make sure the profit is still there as a portion of shipping goes to eBay.

Do a web search for the various shipping methods: USPS, FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc
Put in the weight and dimensions on each of the websites and make the comparison.

Hi there,
I've sold several plant stands and find FEDEX has the best rates. Disney right about having your packaging ready ahead of time.

FedEx is best for big items sometimes half of the USPS rate.
Wouldn't hurt to shop around. Good luck.

With large items, you pay what's called dimensional weight. Basically, you're paying a much higher rate because the package takes up more space. Try Fedex or UPS. You can get quotes online.

If you live in a densely populated area, LA, Chicago, New York...... there are local forums that provide alternatives to using eBay and local pickup only and you avoid not only the shipping costs but having to pay the eBay fees. The shipping costs on large items can push the total cost of an item to the point where it is unattractive to potential buyers.

Expanding and improving on disneyshpper's response. Use Local Pick Up only but.... put in the listing that buyers are free to arrange for a local shipper to pick it up and ship it to the buyer at the buyer's cost. This with no involvement by the seller after getting a receipt for the merchandise pick up. Mi esposa sold half dozen pedicure stations a few years back this way. A side bonus to this is that you won't have to pay any final value fee on the shipping since it won't be part of the transaction
