I sell out of Indianapolis and all my packages are late! I have 2 in dispute and 6 more people have questions on where their items are. Also on the news last night out of INDY they are saying the Veterans are not getting their meds via USPS. Not sure what is going to happen with this my first day of reckoning will be Feb 4. I let you know what happens if the item comes or if I have to pay.

Must be a local thing.
USPS is running normal by me.
I prefer to take my items to the post office in person and use postage from the post office for tracking where I get a tracking number on a receipt. Kind of old-fashioned but it works for me.

Interesting the story about the Vets really brought it home. I think its Indianapolis thanks for the info,

Hi @thejo-52 . You're not alone. I've seen a lot of other sellers and buyers reporting issues with USPS packages traveling through Indy. I've also seen it on my own packages to buyers that have to pass through.
It was the worst Nov/Dec, then it seemed to get a little better in early January, but the last couple weeks it's been awful again.
Had one last week that sat in Indy for 3 days before moving and I couldn't believe it went through that "quickly" compared to what I'm seeing on other packages.
The Indianapolis facility is having definite operational delays.
There aren't great alternatives for packages under 13 oz, but once you hit 13 oz and up you'll find UPS Ground Saver has very competitive rates - maybe you want to look into offering that service for a while.

We are having the same issue, sellers need to contact eBay and get them involved. USPS shut down two facilities in the Indianapolis area and the Regional Hub that is there is unable to handle the volume. They literally have tens of thousands of packages sitting there not getting delivered. There is tons of Media coverage about this, check out Channel 13 WTHR news coverage of this as recent as 3 days ago. It is all over YouTube and multiple news agencies. The worst part is the Postal Service refuses to give refunds knowing they have a major issue, knowing packages are not getting delivered and probably will never be delivered and they are still allowing packages to go to this location knowing they can't handle the volume or deliver the packages. They want us to wait 45days to file for a refund, as a seller, what buyer would wait 45 days for a refund, that's absolutely ridiculous when they are well aware they have a major issue at this location. There is no service there at all. eBay needs to issue a statement like they do for weather related delay issues covering sellers whose packages end up at the Indianapolis Regional Facility. This is where packages go to die and are never seen again!!!!!

The Louisville USPS regional center is also a disaster. 50+ trailers full of mail. Some since Christmas. They are running news stories on it too. I think Indianapolis is having the same issue.
I hope they resolve it soon.
Am getting item not received claims daily now and having to issue refunds.

Got a package I sent to Indiana and it is stalling in the Indianapolis sorting facillity as I speak.

I've been told I just have to wait and hope my items show up. Just one of many items I had / having issues with, this one at least arrived. Purchased from a seller not even 3 hours from me took 2 weeks to get. I have had the Indy Hub receive items only to send them to California, Louisiana, Florida, Montana, Ohio just to have them bounce back to Indy and sit. With plenty more just sitting in Indy with ZERO updates since mid January, opening a case with USPS lost mail is a lost cause, I have several that have not been scanned since Jaunuary 20th and 21st in Indy with zero updates, just sitting. I've had to resort to asking sellers to ship UPS or FedEx and pay more for shipping. USPS should be doing something for all these late / missing packages.

The Indy post office said they are sometimes just loading all the packages and sending them to Texas to deal with so that is fun

Welcome to USPS, where the service gets worse year after year and prices continue to rise. Got a problem with there garbage service? Luckily for you, they have absolutely zero accountability for there inability to fulfill the service you paid for. Want a refund for your lost items and postage? Spend 45 minutes on there glitchy web server and fill out a request form just for it to say, "We're sorry, there is an issue with our server at this time. Try again later".

I ship out of Muncie, Indiana and everything I ship goes through Indianapolis. It is a complete mess. Filing a package research case does nothing as they are being closed with zero contact. I am now filing insurance claims on all missing packages as soon as the 15 day mark comes. So far, all claims have been paid except for one. On that claim, USPS states that records indicate delivery, yet tracking still shows NOTHING since the date its was mailed on January 15, just the possession scan at the local PO. That one has been appealed, but they will stall processing the appeal hoping it gets delivered. That is normal procedure for USPS.

I have a item that has in transit from Indianapolis since January 29th with no updates at all. I know it isn't the seller fault, but I will have to file a INR if I don't get it by March 1st. The bigger question for me is why did my package go thru Indianapolis from Queens, NY when I live in the Chicago area? A package from Queens should go straight to Chicago since they are the first and third largest cities in the country. No way anyone is going to tell me the USPS distribution center in Indy is bigger than Chicago's.

Indianapolis, Louisville and Atlanta are horrible. Indy sorting facility just made the news too for such horrible service.

Thanks for the Indy updates. Indy is my new "problem child" and have lost far more than my previous PC (Portland Ore.). Now I know what to say to my customers when they're blowing up my inbox with lost packages.
