Ive been quite perplexed by EBay’s shipping charges that claim to get you a “preferred rate”
I made a sale and had to pay out of pocket for shipping by 8$ as eBay’s calculated rate was incorrect. Why even offer this if it’s just a lie? Am I missing something or doing it wrong? It’s unnecessarily confusing to new sellers.. what’s the best way to not get hosed with shipping charges in the future?

If you are using the shipping calculator and enter the correct dimensions and weight when you do the listing the shipping label should cost the same as what the buyer paid. For example, Are you saying that buying the label on eBay cost more than what the buyer paid? Or were you charged more afterwards or …?
We can try and figure out what happened if you can give some information. Was this a domestic label with Canada or was it to the US? What were the dimensions and weight used in your listing and which service.? You can check that by clicking on sell similar on that listing and scrolling down to the shipping info. Then, just back out of the listing so that you do not list it again. Is that the identical info used on the label page? What was the postal or zip code that the item was being shipped too?
I’m in Canada as well so I am familiar with .ca shipping costs and might be able to help you. But next time you have a Canadian shipping question post it on the Canadian board rather than here on the US board. There will ne more people on the .ca board who are familiar with shopping from Canada.
