Invalid zip code

When I try to print a label on ebay, the zip is coming up as invalid. I also tried at paypal. The zip that comes up when I try to print in paypal is wrong. When I edited it to the correct zip 97251-9616, it converted back to the old wrong one 97230. The zip that the buyer gave me is correct. The zip was recently changed (on 7/25/19), but niether ebay or paypal has updated their systems.

If I print the label, can I cross out the old zip and write in the correct one? Or will the bar code somehow mess that up?

Re: Invalid zip code

Just print the label exactly as eBay or PayPal wants with the zip code changed, and ship it.

When USPS scans it for delivery, it will be 97251, as USPS knows the zip code now, and that will match the zip code provided by your overseas buyer, which protects you from a false Item Not Received claim. You're also protected because there is no eBay Money Back Guarantee coverage when an item is reshipped after its original delivery.

Re: Invalid zip code

Thanks. Would writing the correct zip on the label cause any issues?

The writing won't help: USPS will route the package to Portland according to the barcode on the label.

Re: Invalid zip code

LOOK online and see if that city had a change in zipcode. I had a situation like this years ago. In that case, the city got a new zipcode. This was a long time ago before I printed the labels online. Speak with the buyer and ask them if the zipcode has changed? You can always hand print the address and go to the post office BUT MAKE SURE THAT THE ZIPCODE is correct after speaking with the buyer.

That reshipper, occupying only one-third of a building, has been getting so much mail that USPS had to assign it its own, new zip code.
