Incorrect dimensions

I recently printed a shipping label for a product, but I recently noticed that the dimensions on the label were 7x4x4 (no units specified, I'm assuming inches). The package is actually 20"x14"x10". I'm planning on voiding the shipping label, but don't want the buyer to have to wait for that to go through. So I went to purchase a new shipping label, however the correct dimensions are already listed (without me having changed anything). The package is using "priority mail international - Package/Thick envelope" I'm thinking this could be where the 7x4x4 came from. So that leads to where I am now, with these questions,

- Why are the dimensions different than what was specified?

- Can I just mail the package as is? (how much will I be charged?)

- Should I just refund the purchase and seek out a domestic buyer?

Incorrect dimensions

The default to 7x4x4 is a known glitch and does not affect the postage cost, but you would do well to verify the correct amount via USPS.  You can look up the cost to your international buyer here

or by using the USPS rate calculator

For the latter, the results will be the retail cost but at least you'll know if you are in the ballpark.

Via Priority Mail to a domestic destination, your 20x14x10 box  will incur dimensional weight charges  to Zones 5-8.  The minimum billable weight is 15 lbs.

What about in regards to international shipments?  I've had problems with the SF customs w/ a med flat rate box that weighed 11lbs. being sent back to me because I stated 9lbs.   MFR is up to 20lbs. for int'l so shouldn' t have been sent back.  Took forever for me to get re-sent as they voided my $65 worth of postage.  I can def see them sending a pkg. back if the dim's are off.  Especially considering it should be a 3 page label and it glitches to the single "stick on" small package type....  I know this glitch is nearly a year old so why isn't it fixed yet????

Weight has to be accurate, regardless of dimensions.

Incorrect dimensions

Not true regarding flat rate weight.  It's re-weighed at customs so as long as it's within the range you're fine (usually).  This is proven by USPS paying my postage second time around.  Also confirmed by USPS Consumer Affairs rep.
