I called ebay today to discuss extending shipping time to one week. They said he would not have a strike against him for extending the shipping day to 5 days instead of next day shipping which is his normal routine. I am very concerned for my husband who over 60 and has damaged lungs to go out so frequently. I hope that ebay extends the shipping time temporarily, so my husband only has to go out once a week. The US government recommend that people over 60 stay home because they are at higher risk with Coronavirus. IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT THAT EBAY CHANGES THE SHIPPING TIME TO 7 DAYS DURING CORONAVIRUS. I want my husband safe.
"The CDC guidance comes as two top infectious disease experts with ties to the federal government have advised people over 60 and those with underlying health problems to strongly consider avoiding activities that involve large crowds."
The Center for Disease Control in the US recommends this:
Early information out of China, where COVID-19 first started, shows that some people are at higher risk of getting very sick from this illness. This includes:

You should extend your own shipping time. There is no reason to expect EBay to make everyone do it.

Sellers can set up their own handling time. If your husband wants to set his handling time at 7 days, he can do so. Handling time is measured in business days, so a handling time of 5 days would cover once-per-week shipping.
Did you know that USPS offers carrier pickup for over 90% of their customers? It's just a few clicks away when you purchase a postage label online, or you can do it separately at usps.com.

Change the shipping time in your listings. eBay doesn't have to do it for you.
As the poster above said, you can have USPS pick up your packages from your mailbox and you don't have to come in contact with anyone.

What @nobody*s_perfect wrote about scheduling pick up by the USPS is good information. Another way pick up can be worked is, If you have a regular mail carrier and are usually home when they arrive, talk to them. If you have a safe easily accessible place to put outgoing packages, you may be able to work out a signal to let them know to pick them up. In my case I made a brightly colored sleeve to slip over my outgoing mail flag on my box, to let them know I have outgoing packages in our agreed upon spot. They also noted that on their scanner for substitute carriers, who are notified by the scanner about the special instructions, as they near my house. Of course none of the above matters unless your husband prints his shipping labels at home, and does not go to the P.O. to purchase postage and ship.
Good Luck

I have my regular carrier on alert... all handled through a simple conversation. He knows I sell on eBay and when I have outgoing packages... he even scans upon pickup.
I haven't physically been to the Post Office in years.
