I have an issue.

Hi, I sold a cork, I shipped it out and he/she never received it. I shipped another cork, It was received. Get a message through eBay demanding I pay $10.95 for shipping she had to pay to post office to pick up her package. Now this cork and all of its packaging weighed just under 3 ounces. Shipping in an eBay 4x4x6 inch box wrapped in eBay's small bubble mailer. Like I said all weighed under 3 ounce and I printed a label for 4 ounce. So where is this $10.95 coming from. I asked for proof, but haven't heard back yet. Thoughts. Thank you

Re: I have an issue.

If you shipped the cork using First Class Package, you shouldn't have paid more than $2.66 for up to 4 ounces.

I would ask the buyer to send you a photo of the packaging with the post office stamp/notice advising of the $10.95 due.  I can't imagine they are charging for some sort of upgrade.

I assume you are using online postage, so any postage discrepancy should have been charged back to you using the APV (automatic [postage verification).  Something doesn't sound right.

Re: I have an issue.

international:

that's taxes(duties),not postage due.

domestic:

you used packing or stickers that are for priority mail and that's what they're charged for.

or

something indicated it's not allowed to go by air,but ground wouldn't cost that much.

Re: I have an issue.

Hi, It was a domestic package and the entire order was less than $7.00. He sent a photo and it does say postage due $10.95 and I used eBay shipping. It is an eBay box with eBay tape.

Rates changed in January 2019 ... 4 ounces can range from 2.66 to 3.09, depending on zone.

The APV doesn't catch a lot of packages that have incorrect postage, so the local branch can still charge extra if the APV misses it.

Re: I have an issue.

Did you use an eBay box marked for Priority Mail?

No, It was an 4x4x6 eBay box that said nothing but eBay with a 4oz eBay shipping label and eBay tape.  I don't get it.

Re: I have an issue.

Contact their Post Office and ask for the Postmaster. Ask that you can send them the picture that the buyer sent to you with the Postage Due markings.

I'm a mail carrier and I have to collect Postage Due A LOT! But unless it was a co-branded box eBay/Priority , and the weights are correct it should not have arrived Postage Due.
