USPS Priority shipping label bought and printed from the ebay platform with tracking # automatically applied to the order details on 10/20/25. In the last 2 days USPS.com tracking shows 4 tracking location updates as of 10/22/25, but ebay shows nothing, only that a label was generated, but not shipped.

An ebay chat customer service agent blamed USPS and told me to mark the item as 'not shipped' and then enter the same tracking number again. This did not work. USPS tracking info is still not showing on ebay, and made it worse showing that I didn't print a label until 10/22/25 when I actually did it on 10/20/25.

I buy and print all my USPS Priority Mail labels direct from ebay and have not had this problem with any other orders, so it is hard to believe that USPS is the problem.

Has anyone else run into this, and how did you solve it? I have already contacted my customer with updates direct from USPS tracking, but it now appears that I will be charged with a late shipping defect from ebay based on the lack of tracking data on ebay for this order. Or worse, item not delivered.

Go to: https://www.ebay.com/sh/ord/?filter=status:PAID_SHIPPED

Click on the tracking number to be taken to the carrier's website. Look for the link to enter your email address to be sent updated tracking information. That should lead the carrier to updating the tracking information to ebay.

Thanks for suggesting that and I did set that up. I'm just not sure why sending updates to my email address would also trigger updates to be sent to ebay. I did use the same email address that I use on my ebay account, so hope it works.

This did nothing except trigger USPS tracking emails coming to my personal email address. Still no updates to ebay. The USPS informed delivery system does not trigger updates to ebay.

Same issue, there’s no tracking status updates at all whatsoever. What the Hell is going on here?

Is the customer complaining?
Has the last estimated date for delivery passed?

Has the customer filed an Item Not Received claim?

If the Claim has been filed, put the tracking number into the Claim. EBay wants to see that the seller is actively cooperating with the Claim.

Often this gives the seller a day or two leeway for delivery.

If the customer is not complaining, don't watch tracking.

The two systems don't sync perfectly and you will only cause yourself anxiety.

Never tell a customer there is a problem. Let them tell you.

@valkseller This "fix" has been tested by several sellers and mentors and has resulted in ebay being updated shortly after applying. Maybe just a coincidence , but at this point anything is worth a try.

None of the FIVE items I shipped Monday are updating in-house. One of them was even delivered today already, but not according to eBay.

That's really bad customer service advice. Customers rely on accurate and timely tracking information so they know when to expect a delivery. From my customer's perspective it appeared on ebay order details page that I haven't shipped the item yet. Reality is that there isn't a problem with the item, in fact it's expected to be delivered tomorrow and my customer replied to my heads up with a thank you.

What we know is that labels printed on Monday October 20th are not getting tracking updates from USPS to Ebay. The problem is not with USPS as evidenced by their tracking inquiries and updates are being made to ebay for labels printed before and after October 20th.

So what stands out about October 20th? Amazon Web Services had a massive crash that reportedly effected 1/3 of domestic internet traffic. When I printed my label on the 20th there was a red warning message at the top of the screen saying that due to the AWS outage some labels couldn't be purchased. I asked google about this and here is the reply: "There has been instances where eBay's own services have been disrupted by AWS outages, indicating a dependence on AWS for certain specific functions."

I have chatted with ebay support people and asked about this 'coincidence' with labels printed on Oct 20th not getting updates and the AWS crash the same day. My question was ignored, neither confirming or denying it.

Actually it isn’t bad advice. I understand you are trying to do be proactive and keep your buyers informed, in my experience, even the best of intentions can backfire. Some buyers are patient and understanding, while others will take advantage of the situation and start an item not received claim. So sometimes it is best to leave it alone unless a buyer contacts you with questions.

Acceptance is the answer to all problems today

Guess there are two opposing camps on this. I agree it's better to reach out to buyers before they get worried enough to reach out to me. I've done it for years any time I saw slow/stuck tracking and they've always been very appreciative of the fact that I didn't forget them after I got their money. I've never seen the "poking the bear" thing actually play out like the cynical hypothetical. They already know they can file INR if they want; if anything contacting them shows they don't need to because you're already aware of the issue and trying to remedy it.

I also shipped and printed labels on 10/20/25 with USPS. None have updates for tracking on ebay - but guess what - they have already given me defects for no carrier scans. Yet when I looked at the USPS site for tracking, one of the packages has already been delivered, and the others show tracking history. So it is cause for concern that I am being penalized for no carrier scans according to ebay by not updating what is clearly visible on USPS.

Can you please be specific on where you see defects for no carrier scans? A screenshot would be even better if you can get one. I can't think of any kind of penalty a seller could get so soon.
EDIT: Never mind. They ARE showing as strikes in the 'Tracking uploaded on time and validated' section of Performance.
