How to respond to buyer NSAD?

I have sold a lego Set silent Mary box and manual only. I have put box and manual only both in the title and description. The price is 10$, whereas a complete set would cost 400$. Again, I have posted pictures showing the empty box and stated bold and clear in the title and description. Now the buyer wants to return it because “to his son’s surprise, the item received does not  match pictures or description” assuming he would receive the entire set.  I have sent him tons of messages and he has not replied yet.
I will not pay the price of his own fault. Why do ebay seller have to be philanthropist when their customer can not read properly and think properly?

I will not tolerate such buyers.

If the buyer files an Item Not as Described case, you WILL either accept a return (and pay return shipping) or you can refund the buyer and not require return of the item.  ebay's Money Back Guarantee trumps your return policy.

I am sorry this happened to you. Unfortunately, sellers are the responsible parties for the whole transaction. No matter if you sell online or B&M, it ain't over until the customer is satisfied and/ or made whole. Sometimes that sucks but that is the way it is.

I see you listwith no returns. That does not automatically translate into no refunds. The buyer will most likely win his case. If ebay steps in to resolve, you will receive a defect, most likely will lose the item and the original payment. I am not sure you can deduct the actual shipping charges from the original payment but don't count on it.

So, issue a return label to get your item back and refund. Add buyer to your blocked list and relist your item.

Good luck.

"Please return for a complete refund"

You might as well suck it up.     One way or another you're going to refund.

It's your call... I'd probably just refund since your s&h is $29.95, but that's up to you. (Note: I don't usually recommend refunding before return... but losing more money on an empty box doesn't make sense.) If you don't request a return or refund on your own, eBay will do it for you and your account will take a ding. Good luck!

I'm looking at your item specifics from that particular listing. I see "piece count 2294 pieces". I see a list of the characters included in the set.  Yes, those are filled in by Ebay, but YOU are responsible for them.  Don't use item specifics that don't apply to what you're selling. If you're selling a box, remove the piece count and the characters.

Tell the buyer to return it for a full refund, or refund in full and just let them keep the box. Your choice. I see $36 shipping for that box. If that's the case, it's not worth paying the return shipping.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Once ebay sees that item is indeed sent as listed they will rule in your favor. Had that happened to me once before. Ebay sided in my favor. I hate when buyers do not read descriptions. Eyes do not only work on looking at pictures.

If you intend to list "BOX ONLY" items again, I would suggest putting that term at the start of your item title rather than the end. I have seen similar situations viewing such an item in a search on a mobile device where the most important word in the title is not displayed at all.

Consider that there are likely many, many more potential buyers searching for the entire set and not searching for just a box, and they are likely not expecting the empty box to turn up in their search results. Even if your title and description is clear to 99 out of 100 potential buyers, that one out of a hundred can still be a problem for you.

Yes, potential buyers should read the entire description, but it is in your own best interest to minimize the chances that a careless buyer misses an important detail like the last word of your item title.

Sorry.  You are giving that seller the wrong advice.  Have you read the listing? It mentions the # of pieces and other features that would lead the buyer to believe he was getting something more than an empty box.

With its policies now, eBay rarely if ever looks at the listing to see if the buyer was misled or if the listing was clear.  Even though you won in the past, it’s unlikely that you or the op would win today.
