When placing an order on ebay:
How could I know which shipping system the seller will use? -- I cannot afford UPS for deliveries, since in the event of a return of the package I do not have the means of personal transportation in order to go to the UPS location site to return ... Thanks.

It doesn't matter which service they use, the shipping charge you pay will be shown in the listing.
Most returns are done through USPS.

But as far as I can understand all this tangled matter, when I print the code that they send me 'for the return' this label is already predetermined to go through a *specific company system* ... suppose the seller does it through UPS, I would lose my money, some sellers, and not a few, use UPS, even Fedex.
I think it is essential to know which routes the seller is using before making the purchase and that ebay should give that information somewhere, not all of us have means of transportation or are young and strong enough to shoulder a box and go to the location designated by UPS in our area... thanks for comment.

In the listing, under the "Shipping, returns and payments" tab that's beside the "About this item" tab (see below), you should be able to tell what method they use.
Here's an example of one of my items. I plugged in the zip code to Beverly Hills because I remember that one from the TV show "90210".
I use USPS and I like to offer options, but even if I used UPS, it should be listed in that same area.

Most listings will say what carrier will be used in the description. Most lightweight items will be shipped via USPS as that is the most economical for sellers. Heavier items tend to be shipped via UPS or Fed/Ex. You are always welcome to simply send a message to a seller and ask which carrier they will use before you purchase. This way you will have a written acknowledgement prior to the transaction. You have several ways to know in advance before you purchase. Best of luck to you....

How to get to that page you show here, saying:
"Shipping, returns and payments".
in your example, it seems that the purchase order has already been placed, I do not understand how to open this page with this information, or how to enter it. And i need to get it without to place the order.
@lamber
As for asking to the seller ... it seems like maybe the only option available.

That screenshot in post 4 is from an active listing, not one that has already been purchased. When you open a sellers listing on a computer, scroll down a little bit and on the left side of the page just above Item Specifics you will see two horizontal tabs. One tab says 'about this item' and the other tab says 'shipping returns and payment'. Click on that second tab and it should show you the shipping method or choice of shipping methods to your location.
The majority of US sellers do to show specific shipping carriers in that section but there will be some that will use a generic term and won't specify the carrier. In those cases you can ask the seller or just move on to another listing.

You can also get to that section another way. When you are looking at the sellers listing you will see the shipping cost in the top half of the page. Next to that cost click on 'see details' and it will take you to the shipping section in that previous screenshot. You can't do that from the search page, you have to click into the listing to see that information.

Very good, thank you, I have found the window, now, in my case I have ordered two books, with two different sellers, in no case do they refer to 'USPS'; in the 'service' section, one says:
'Standard Shipping' and the other order: 'Expedited Shipping', and that's it. (?).
Which makes me keep thinking that I would definitely have to resort sometimes to having to ask the seller ...
--only sometimes? ... (?)*
Somehow ebay should make the whole thing clearer and easier for buyers, my opinion/experience.
Thanks to all who have commented, at least now I have a more concrete idea of how to deal with the matter.
Greetings.

Can I ask if you are in the USA?
I have a feeling you are looking at international shipping options from the USA
Domestic Shipping within the USA has to designate the class within those parameters (i.e. standard, expedited)....i think.....
International shipping only has to designate economy, standard or expedited without declaring a class/method/carrier.....

I do not think I have ever made a purchase considering, as a factor, how I would have to return it....

Yes, i'm in USA.
These are books, one from this seller:

and the other store:

You must thank God that you are a strong healthy person and have a means of transportation that allows you to go where UPS assigns you...

OK...thanks for that....I stand corrected....
Then I am not sure.....but, if you are purchasing only 1 book at a time, I highly suspect the seller is using media mail (USPS)
it is by far the most inexpensive method to ship with tracking......

I don't know what else to add, I hope so these are books, and almost never have any problems, either due to wrong descriptions or damage, they are usually even covered with some waterproof material. Thank you.
