If you get an INR case opened. Don't manually refund. Let the case close on its own. You can call you get the deadline extended depending on last tracking activity. If the case closes with a refund to the buyer you just wait until its finally delivered. If it has been less then 30 days from when the case closed call ebay and they will credit you.
I have called ebay several times in the past 2 weeks and was told on multiple occasions ebay is protecting sellers as long as they shipped within their handling time.
I have only had one 1 refunded so far and then got it credited after it was delivered by calling.
I have an anchor store so I talk to USA based reps. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Huh, that is interesting, because I've never heard of that happening here before.
What kind of store a seller has should not make a difference though on whether they get credited back or not... I mean, I don't know what eBay takes into consideration if they are actually doing this, but it should not matter one ounce how big a store the seller has if they should get the money reimbursed or not...
If they are reimbursing based on store size that is INSANTIY at it's finest.
I will say anytime I've called eBay the past 3 years or so, I've gotten an outsourced from India rep on the phone (and every time it's been a female, they've said their name was Jen... like that is believable like I get the same girl EVERY time.. yeah ok....)
I do know that there is some special "concierge" VIP service given to certain users. I know a person (will not say who) but they buy only, have never sold a thing, and usually the things they buy are higher ticket items... and they have that special service. Meanwhile, I sell over $15,000 worth of stuff every year and don't get jack as far as any special services...

I just had a case (12/18)where the last scan was Dec 5 and eBay closed the INR with a refund to the buyer.
SO !!!
I immediately filed a "retrieve mail" request with the post office. The package is being intercepted and returned to me . Since it is "return to sender" there is no additional postage. But they do charge a $14.95 fee (which is waived if they are unable to intercept it and it gets delivered anyways). Obviously that is only worthwhile if the item is worth more than the $14.95 fee (In this case it was).
So, yes, I am out a few dollars - BUT I am NOT out the total cost of the sale. Mini-rainbows.

Agree. There should not be a discrepancy in the level of service we receive. I do get US-based reps SOMETIMES; the rest are from the Phillipines, I believe, and perhaps Malaysia/Indonesia. Not so much India anymore.
If you are on Managed Payments, you can ALSO ask to speak to MP department. They are DEFINITELY US-based. They told me this with 100% confidence and everyone I have spoken with has an "American" accent, if that makes any sense.

Hi there, How long ago did you file the package intercept? And did it work?
Was your original package First Class? I read they have to upgrade it to Priority if it is not already Priority, and they'll charge you extra postage for that.
Let me know how it goes! 🙂

You let the case close out and you get a defect...

Hasn't Ebay temporarily stopped issuing dings to a sellers account if it is a shipping issue caused by the USPS backlog?

We've granted your appeal
Hi ******,
After reviewing the case, we decided to reverse the outcome and grant your appeal.
You'll receive a refund of US $****** to your total funds.
This case will not affect your seller performance, and we’ll remove any feedback that was posted for this item.

Is the issuance of this courtesy refund exceedingly limited, provided only a certain number of times to a particular seller & only to certain sellers ?

I only filed it a few days ago and this being a holiday weekend I don’t really expect any results right away. But I will be happy to update the info as it comes in.
There is a flat fee for the interception.
The provision to upgrade first class to Priority only seems to apply if you are REDIRECTING the mail to some other address.
On the form page one of the options is “return to sender” along with a note that there are no extra postage fees for that. Think of it this way: You send out a first class package to an address at a large apartment building but the buyer failed to give you their apartment number (it happens a lot). The post office marks the package “insufficient address return to sender”. Obviously it is not their fault, yet they send it back without charging any additional postage.

You must have a log in and password protected account with the USPS (Free and easy to get).
There is a box on the left of the page where you can insert your tracking number and they will tell you whether or not your package qualifies.
On my earlier post I said “So, yes, I am out a few dollars - BUT I am NOT out the total cost of the sale.” I should have added that since you get the product back you can then resell it to recoup what was the refund given earlier. Far better than the buyer getting both the product and the refund.
I’ll let you know.

I recently had an INR case opened because the package was taking way longer than expected. The buyer also posted negative feedback referencing the delay.
The package eventually arrived. eBay closed the case, removed the negative, and the item does not appear in my late shipment report.

This was my plan all along for INRs that I lose. So far I have had about 60 INRs (planning on more the first two weeks after Xmas). Many of them closed out in my favor because they arrived. I have about a dozen still open. And 3 closed in the buyers favor (they asked ebay to step in before tracking shows delivered). I’d say that’s a pretty good track record considering the situation. And once those three show up as delivered, I’m going to call in the appeals.

I did not read where the OP said the type of store is dependent on getting a credit,
they said they talk with USA based reps and don't know if that is bc they have an anchor store

Thank you for sharing this information, I much appreciate knowing this.
I too did an interception for the $14.95 and got the package back.
Well worth it for a $200 item not to be delivered to the buyer who received a full refund on an INR case.
