How to file damage claim with UPS

Hi

UPS is now on Ebay. So we started using them to ship our packages. One of them got damage. We tried to file claim through their website, but unfortunately we shipped directed to eBay, UPS said we are not the shipper. Then we had to call UPS and go though 30min phone with them for claim process.

After that, they said they may inspect the package and notify eBay about the claim and if the claim approved, they will reimbursed to eBay not us? So we ask why not send the fund to us? They said you then have to call eBay to have the fund reimbursed to your account, because eBay is actually shipper not us.   ...??

They are welcome to go to get the package and inspect and talk with eBay. But why they send the fund to eBay and we have to call eBay again to make sure we have the fund back to our account. It a lot of process and time to file a claim.

Is anyone know how to make it easier to file claim with UPS?

Thanks

It is impossible to file and get paid on a claim using UPS.  I've spent hours of my time on the phone or online and UPS makes it almost impossible to get to the point where you just can't do it.  I'm never shipping anything UPS again.  Check out their Better Business Beurau complaints, I can't believe they are even in business.

Unless UPS completely loses the package, it's difficult to get paid on any claim. Pack like you expect it to be dropped from an airplane and hope for the best.

Related anecdote: we recently shipped a package UPS Next Day Early AM. The package sat in an airport for many hours overnight and was then marked "delayed due to weather conditions". Checking the NWS weather history at that city showed zero inclement weather. The package made it to the destination city that morning, we expected it to be delivered in the afternoon (a few hours late, but at least same day).

NOPE... UPS let the package sit in their distribution facility, less than 1 hour away from the delivery address, ANOTHER 24 HOURS. It was delivered over 24 hours late (following morning), after paying nearly $100 for Next Day Early AM service. Tried contacting UPS about a partial refund, since we paid for Next Day, not Two Day delivery - there's a substantial cost differenc. UPS insisted there was inclement weather, and they do not guarantee any service levels due to weather issues. UPS flat refused to do anything, end of discussion. Apparently they can fabricate stories about weather when it's in their best interest, rather than owning up to a failure on their part to deliver the package on time.

USPS and FedEx aren't much better. Pick your poison.

How to file damage claim with UPS

So UPS destroyed a $5,000.00+ piece of equipment that I sold on Ebay auction for $1,800.00. I printed the UPS label from Ebay and packaged the item exactly the same way as the previous 5 I had sold on Ebay and delivered it to UPS to be shipped. Same as the previous times... but this time it was damaged so bad the customer had no hope of getting it to run. The dealer looked ot the photos and desciption and confirmed there was no viable way to repair the unit. I had to refund the buyers money - no argument there because he was not at fault - but the conflicting stories from Ebay as well as UPS (reflecting everything stated in most of the other complaints in this thread) gets extremely frustrating. I had to pay for the shipping to have the item returned, label printed once again through Ebay, but this time I wasn't given a choice and had to ship Fedex.

After all the obvious running around, cancelling and voiding of my claim I finally received a check in the mail for $100 value plus the original UPS shipping cost. To add insult to injury return shipping was on me. It seems like paying UPS to do their job, which is shipping your item without damages, is not enough. You actually have to find the extortion option when you purchase the shipping label on Ebay. This is where you pay UPS an additional amount of money for the job they were supposed to do anyway and if you don't... well it sucks to be you! I cannot tell you how many times the Ebay agents told me to go ahead and lodge the claim and not to worry because Ebay has my back and I would be refunded. Well....THEY LIED!! Oh... and thank you for being a loyal ebayer for over 16 years........ It would be tto funny if it wasn't costing me a lot of money. Goodbye Ebay!! Farewell UPS!!
