How can I charge for a second shipping on the same item?

I had a buyer tell me, after i had sent the item, that he wanting the item go to a different address. He said it would be returned from the address listed, and it was. He then asked for it the be shipped to a different address, So I told him it would cost extra, he agreed. How do I bill him?

The fact that the item has arrived and was shipped back isn't a delivery confirmation.

if it was rerouted "return to sender".

If the seller ships anywhere else without cancelling the transaction and redoing he's not covered.

If tracking does show "delivered" and someone just shipped it back, it's a different story.

Creating an invoice at pp isn't one click as cancellatoin, thus takes more time on my opinion.

But yeah, depends on the seller.

The fact that the item could not be delivered due to an incorrect address satisfies Ebay's policy on delivery.  Sellers are only to ship to the address on the purchase record or PP payment notification.  If the buyer has accidentally provided them with an incorrect or invalid address, the seller is NOT responsible for that.

In the case of an item being marked Return to Sender by the buyer, that is a totally different situation.  And yes that does count as delivery.  That is in the Money Back Guarantee that protects buyers.

Creating a cancellation is not one click nor is creating an invoice in PP.  These actions on their own are about equal in time.  The problem in my opinion is all the extra time you require from your buyer in the method that you are most comfortable with.

Again, with all that said.  You have every right to handle these situation as you see fit.  If it works for you and your buyers don't mine, I think that is great.  Your way is not the only way to handle similar situations.  And it isn't the only right way to handle it.  The method I previously described is just fine too.  But if you like your way and it works for you, then that is exactly what you should do.

I always print the 2nd label through ebay.   It keeps the shipping info and tracking numbers for BOTH labels.

Buyer could open a claim with pp and get his money back if the item wasn't delivered to a confirmed address. Doesn't matter it was returned. Maybe eBay won't refund but pp will.

Thanks everyone for sharing & helping 🙂

Yes they can.  But that wasn't what we were talking about.  A buyer absolutely has the right to open a claim in Ebay or PayPal if the choose to.  But the mere fact that a buyer opens a claim does not mean the automatically win.

Again, you should do what works for you and what you are most comfortable with.  I'm not trying to sway you to any particular process.  As long as it is within the Ebay rules, your customer is happy and you are happy, that is what counts.  I'm glad you found a method that works for you.

I found that the new one overwrites the original label so the item then shows as being shipped late.
