"Hi,
No, I created and printed the shipping label directly through eBay, so it was the San Jose shipping address provided.
I imagine this is a USPS snafu (they've occasionally misdirected packages over the years that then arrive a day or two late). I'm sorry they screwed up--that's so frustrating! It may be worth giving them a call to check on the status and get a new ETA, as it sounds like you need it ASAP.

I checked the USPS tracking number and the package seems to be going to the completely wrong city. The seller replied with this. Does anyone know if they are telling the truth? Thanks.

If you dont get your pkg soon after the estimated delivery date, file an item not received case, you have thirty days after the last estimated delivery date.

I can't judge truth through an online communication. However, what they report does sound plausible. So does that qualify it as "truthful?"
Shoot once had a package headed up the coast and should have taken a couple of days. But it "disappeared" for days and apparently took a Big urn and finally got scanned again on the opposite coast! Then it took 3 days to get driven back across the USA!
So yeah, stuff like that does happen. Many on these boards have reported that their packages have taken a grand tour of the USA! Just think if teh stories it will be able to tell when it arrives!
Like the other poster mentioned you are entitled to file a case for INR the day AFTER ebay's last estimated delivery date. However, it might make sense to look at the tracking and see if it moves or turns around and heads back.
Did you need the item by a specific date> If so that is another kettle of fish....

Yeah I wanted to know if the story was plausible. Whether or not they are actually telling the truth is another story. Thanks for the answer.

Ill give you another example.
Buyer bought a large lot of widgets from me.
It ended up being 5 separate boxes ... FL to CA ... Priority Mail
I purchased all of the labels at once, the packages were all scanned Accepted at the same place and time.
Boxes 1,2,4 & 5 Tracked straight to CA (Sorting Center FL, Sorting Center CA, PO CA, Delivered) in 3 days. Box 3 took itself a detour to OH and MI before getting back on track to CA ... it took 7 days to finally reach my buyer 😞

The misdirected package is plausible ... in my experience, it happens to about 1 in 400 or 500 shipments. The package gets mistakenly placed in the wrong bin by the USPS (either by a human or a sorting machine), and then it goes with a group of packages to a particular destination - sometimes on the other side of the country. When the bin is next unpacked and the packages are individually sorted, the error is discovered and the package will be identified and binned for the correct destination. It usually adds 2-3 days to the shipping process.

Exactly. Stuff happens, and it may have nothing to do with illegible labels or anything like that. As long as tracking is able to find it someplace, then it will eventually reach its destination, even if it takes an accidental detour along the way. I've seen this once or twice myself, but it always gets sorted out.
