Help Please, Need to Ship

My money is being held in Paypal and I sold 3 items today which need to ship asap, however, I do not have the funds in my backup account to cover the shipping charges.  I know if I'm late, my money will be held longer.   Any advice would be appreciated.

Help Please, Need to Ship

This happens to a lot of new sellers because they don't read the policies for selling BEFORE selling.

As a new seller you will have holds put on your funds. Make sure to have enough in your paypal account to cover the shipping costs until your funds are realeased.

You really need to ship those items because if you don't, you will end up with defects on our account. These add up fast and can end up with you getting your account suspended. Hopefully you can find the money somewhere.

Also you need to read over the eBay money back guarantee as this can come back to bite you later. If a buyer returns an item for being not as described eBay can and will take the money from your paypal account to refund the buyer.

You say you don't have enough money in your backup account. If its just an issue of the time it takes to move money, then you can just make manual labels and take your items to the post office to mail them. Then you will manually enter the tracking numbers into ebay from your post office receipt. If you don't have any money anywhere, then that's a problem. Maybe credit card at the post office?

That's what credit cards are for. If Paypal no longer advances shipping money -- $15 per package as I recall -- then add your credit card to Paypal and use it as a funding source.

I appreciate everyone's advice, I don't think ebay is for me.   It's not fair that as a seller, I'm not told why my funds are on hold,  I'm not a new seller.  Ebay needs to communicate with the sellers just like were told to do with customers.  If I did something wrong, then I feel I should be told. I've read threads in the community of so many different reasons this can happen. Anyway, thanks again.

One more thing, just a moment to vent. My money was put on hold once before, I had to leave town due to a family emergency and was late shipping a package.  I got in touch with the buyer and there was not a problem and I gave them a date the item would be shipped, I also noted this in the field of sold items. Sometimes there are life situations that I feel should be excused. If I was lazy and late, that's totally different. Thanks for listening

You are a new seller.  You only have 18 feedback as a seller, 16 of which are in the past year.

"New" must be relative. I don't consider OP a "new" seller. The number of feedback does not equal number of sales anyway.

you need to use ebay labels.  Found this info in the seller center

If you print labels on eBay for USPS shipping (domestic or First Class international), up to $15 of your buyer's funds will be available immediately to cover shipping costs for any order less than $50. For any order with a total cost that exceeds $50, up to 30% of the funds from you buyer will be available immediately to cover shipping costs. If you use PayPal for USPS, UPS or Canada Post, you'll need to pay for shipping when you print the label but the reimbursement will be deposited back to your PayPal account within 24 hours.

I don't know if I'm considered new or not, I still struggle trying to make a decent profit after the fees and shipping. There's so much to learn and I feel like I have a long way to go in order to get the knack of making money. It's been interesting, that's for sure.

Thank you so much, I actually read that recently but I couldn't remember where I saw it, because I wanted to verify what I thought I read. You've been a great help and I will now send those packages out asap.

This post made me go look at your listings.

You are not giving yourself any profit . With BIN's you need to factor that in. Well you need to do that with auctions too but as BIN's are a set rice there is no chance of a bidding war.

With anything I list I check the trending price for the item. And what it will cost to ship if I am listing with free shipping. Then I use this formula:

what I have in the item + my listing and estimated FVF fees+ shipping+3%to 5% of trending price for self insurance and 30% for built in profit. This equals my starting price for auction listings adding another 30% for BIN's

This should be UNDER or close to the trending price. If it is over I either have to except a lower profit or add the item into a lot to minimize the shipping and potentially bring in a wider buyer base.

I buy a lot of records. I buy primarily lots because I have a B&M. But say I have a request, a buyer waiting in the wings for ZZ Top albums. Another maybe looking at the same lot wanting the Lynyrd Skynard. Now you have two people really wanting the same lot. Wa La bidding war. Potential profit goes up without over pricing at the start.

The problem is that you didn't read the rules before selling. None of this information is hidden. The links I posted in my previous post go to the pages where the answers to your problems are.

Yes a lot of new sellers don't bother to read the policies then are shocked and upset when things go badly. This page is your friend.

eBay considers you a "new" seller until

* it's been more than 90 days after your first successful sale

* you've had more than 25 transactions and $250 in sales

You can also get payment holds if

* Your Seller Dashboard rating has been Below Standard for 90 days

* You've started selling in a new category

* Your account shows unusual activity, such as a sudden increase in eBay Money Back Guarantee cases

* Your buyer opened a request for an item they didn't receive or an item that didn't match the listing description

* You need to add tracking details to an item in order for an eBay Money Back Guarantee case to be resolved

Yes it's a lot to read and know but you have to do it if you want to sell on here.

Printing labels from Ebay, there was a place on the right side that you would check to pay the shipping fees once the funds were released.
