Ok, so, I ship most of my stuff (because I want to, not because I have to) same-day. I think it helps sales. As long as folks purchase before my daily shipping cutoff time, I can get most things packed and out before the end of that day. No problem there.
For some larger items I need extra time, though, and will specify "one business day" for handling. The problem is, when someone buys an item I have tagged as "one day" handling and it's after normal business hours. In this case, eBay invariably tells me I need to ship THE NEXT DAY, essentially making it as if the listing was "same business day." Am I explaining this clearly enough?
If they purchase an item I have tagged as "one day" handling DURING a normal business day, eBay DOES tack on an extra day for handling, as I would expect.
The question is, when someone buys an item at 9PM, and I have "one business day" handling selected, why does eBay say the item has to be shipped that day, rather than one day later?
Anyone? TIA!

1-day handling means that you ship on the next business day, regardless of the specific time that the payment was received. The same applies to a payment that misses your "same day" cutoff time. You should get a scan before midnight (local time, NOT Pacific time) on the next business day. It might not seem logical to you, but here's how eBay defines it:

If you have I business day handling you have 24 hours to ship from when the time the item was purchased. If the sale falls on a Friday night at 9 pm you would have until Monday 9 pm to ship.
If I’m wrong someone will correct me.

Ebay calculates business day based on their time zone PST. For example, I'm in Texas CST so if I get an order at say 12:01 am my time it is only 10:01 pm ebay time and the ship date given IS next business day to them. When I wake up and see if I have an order it shows I must ship that same same day if that makes sense.

Correct.. ebay calculates business days based on PST so depending on when the order is placed and what your specefic time zone is and what hours difference, sometimes it apears they are telling you to ship same business day.

That is how one day handling works. It is the next business day. Cut off times only apply to the same day option. On larger items, since you know you may need extra time, put in 2 days handling to allow plenty.

Adding to what others have said:
Business day refers to a whole day, not "business hours". Buyer purchases at 11 pm, you have 1 business day to ship.
The only time business hours come in to play is setting cut off times for same business day handling.

Yes, exactly. If the buyer pays at 11 PM on Monday, you need to get that scan by midnight on Tuesday.

It's one day, not one day +.
