If I list an item as free shipping how does eBay’s Global Shipping Program work? I use it now but never have with free shipping. Wondering if I should even offer it on free shipping items so I don’t make the mistake of shipping something and taking on shipping costs that exceed the worth of the item. Anyone know?

I am assuming that you only offer Free shipping domestically. With ebay's GSP program you will only be responsible for the domestic leg of the trip, the buyer will pay for the international leg.

Yes only domestically right now. Wasn’t sure if I was responsible for the whole trip. Thank you for your answer! Tried getting the answer via reading the rules and policy but I either missed it or it was a bit vague. Again thanks for the quick reply!

You're only responsible for shipping the item to their forwarder in Kentucky. We used this for many years. Lately people have been taking advantage of this program, through returns. They're making it so you have to pay return shipping from the foreign country, if the customer says they don't like the item. It's cheaper for you to just give a full refund and be done with it. Customers now know this and take full advantage of it.

I have a related question. I have two foreign buyers making me an offer on the same item. One guy has asked my about the total cost. Another is asking me about why there are now import charges where in the past he did not see any. Don't they see the total cost on their end? I just have sold 3 items in the past month to people outside of the USA without a hitch.

Tell them you have no idea of the totla cost and they would need to contact global.
Oh and good luck with contacting global at all.
The truth is you are not an import export company. You have no idea of what tariffs taxes etc; and other fees could be added on. A lot of the users try and by pass this with asking for fake information on the customs forms.
Its a no no, of course:
The estimated shipping should be shown to the customer. Note at that point it is an estimated. It may not cover fees for import into the country the item is shipped to.
This is a part of the reason to use global.
They know what is, what were; as the users of eBay rarely do.
