As a buyer, I just want to say how impressed I am with ebay's global shipping program. When the seller uses that option, the item arrives within days of purchase, instead of months, and the shipping cost is very reasonable. Whenever I buy on ebay, my packages invitably get held up at customs and it causes endless headaches. Not so with the global shipping program! I pay much less custom charges up front with the global shipping program than I do with normal shipping, because my country's customs officials dont know what they are doing. I can finally buy really expensive items with the peace of mind that it will reach me fast and all the costs are already paid. GO EBAY! I was wondering if anybody can help me, is there a search option where you can only search for items where sellers use this option for international shipping? Lets say I looking for a certain watch, how can I limit my search to those sellers that uses the global shipping program? I never want to buy anything any other way again!

I don't know of a way to search but what you might do is this - when you find an item you really want, contact the seller and explain that you'd like the option of using the Global Shipping program. So will say no because they've had a bad experience with it but others will add it to the listing. Don't wait till the last hour to contact the seller.

If you sort by item price + shipping, HIGHEST FIRST, you will probably get most of the GSP items. Sellers that ship themselves are much cheaper than ebay & PB, who rake their share off the top. Yours is among the first posts we've read where a buyer actually states that they LIKE the GSP.....

Costs aren't always higher with sellers using GSP. I just received something from the UK using the program and the shipping cost was actually lower than for some of the U.S. sellers.
It really depends on the item's size. GSP isn't a good match for small, inexpensive things. Nor is it good for breakables since the items are often repackaged.

It may work well for South Africa (and I'm happy for you that it does) but it is a complete disaster for Canada. Canadian buyers hate the program with a passion. Many of them (I am one) simply refuse to purchase anything that has GSP attached to it. Others try it once and say "never again!"

The reason it is so poor for Canada is that ebay/PB refuse to use the usps and Canada Post. They don't get their rake off the top with them, so they won't use them. UPS, Fedex, etc. are so much more expensive and are willing to share the rake. Just contact a seller and see if there is tracking available for their item and if they will ship via the usps. Most will.

Small items are delivered by Canada Post. For heavy and/or bulky items, PB uses Canpar, a company with a terrible reputation.
The reason the GSP so poor for Canada is that it adds too much to the shipping cost, charges duty/taxes on items that would otherwise slip through untaxed and takes longer (sometimes much longer) to arrive. It's blatantly obvious that the buyer didn't matter one bit to the program's designers.
Gailduplo, I'm glad that the program is working for you. Maybe eBay and PB should look at adding more countries where mail delivery can sometimes be a problem, and remove countries such as Canada, the UK and Australia from the list of GSP countries. Because buyers in those three countries mostly seem to despise the program.

GAIL..
I find your post very weird. There is no way that GSP or any other method is getting you your itrems in just DAYS! For one thing the whole process starts off with a delay in shipping to you. Because the selle r must first ship your item to a Sortin Center in the Stat3e of Kentucky. The Center then takes at least another day to ship to you.
In addition, unless you are buying large, expensive items---the S&H you pay is MUCH higher than if the selller had shipped to you himself, using USPS.

I agree 100%...
It is also terrible for buyers in Sweden... It is FAR more expensive for shipping
and we get charged for customs on items that would not normally incur a customs charge.
I never have to pay Customs on items that cost less than $40, our Customs
office doesn't charge taxes on everything, only ONCE in a while.... BUT, GSP
charges customs on EVERY items that cost $20 + ... 50% charge that is....

I'm from Canada too and I hate GSP program. I dont buy anything which the seller use this program. I don't mind to pay custom duty in my country and I'm pretty happy when I'm doing this in my country, where it supposed to be done. Paying charges and custom to the private shipping company which is from other country than mine is like giving money away to the wrong person.
In the past, I bought one item with GSP attached to it, which reached me broken and I had to pick it up in some kind of shaby convenient store. The item was broken because its delivery way was double longer than it would be shipped just my regular USPS. I returned the item back to the seller, who was nice to give me refund....but expensive GSP charges were NOT refunded! I have received appology letter from GSP but no any penny. It was a total and legal rip off.
Also, when pay custom charged in Canada, usually they are way lower than the GSP charges.
I tried once and never again!
