I think you have ID a gapping hole in the program. Whatever shipper eBay uses for GSP should be able to reverse the process and get the item returned.
eBay should make that happen. I sell internationally all the time. Don't use GSP or eBay standard only USPS. Never had a return.
To me this is another example of how eBay is no longer just a venue. They are dead smack in the middle of this transaction making financial decisions for buyers and sellers yet have no $s of their own in the game. Even if the item was insured probably doesn't qualify. There should have been a longer resolution time. They should have told the buyer you are entitled to a refund if the item is received back to the seller in X days and the provided a way for a lable to be purchased in their home country and charged to the seller. How hard is that????
You could see if you could get a prepaid label for the return from FedEx or UPS and try to get it back

For an international return where you cannot provide a return label, ebay expects you to send the buyer MONEY for the return shipping via PayPal. You have to also provide evidence that you have done so. Since you didn't, your buyer got a free gift on your dime.

Also Tried to send refund to buyer, via paypal, to cover cost of return label, the email was unverified.

Not for lack of trying. I'm appealing. ebay Global Shipping Program Does not Help the Seller. Not only that i was waiting for the Buyer to ship as told by EBAY. Im sure the outcome wont favor me, or sellers in General .

Remarkably when I bought an item from the UK that was counterfeit, seller stated he could not send return label in the return case (this was one of the options), the case didn’t close on the date given for the seller to provide a return label, instead eBay told me to front the return cost and upload the receipt and they would provide me a refund for that label from the seller. Guess what happened?

If you did that to me I would report you for perpetuating a scam. You see it might make sense to issue a partial refund that covers the cost of return shipping, however, when the item is returned, the only thing available to you is issue a "refund" which gives back what is left of the original payment. You can not issue a FULL refund amount over and above the original payment amount. So in essence I would be stuck paying the return shipping and scammed out of those funds.
The proper way to give the buyer return shipping is to send them funds outside of eBay. I think PayPal is preferred as I suspect eBay still has links and could see that transaction, or you upload it to the return.

OK, I'll play....
You sent the item back with tracking and got a refund. The seller sent you monies to cover the shipping but sent it in Pounds and not US Dollars. eBay issued you a refund for the return label too. You got your money back and made a profit! ??? 😎😂
Am I right? Do I win the Chicken Dinner?

eBay just wants you to get your refund, @dolcetreasures, and promised to take care of it for you ... until the very end. They even put it in writing!
Why don't you trust eBay?

Sorry this has happened to you - I've often wondered what would happen if I ever need a return for a GSP sale. Thankfully, GSP has been amazing for me. Never one return - not a single one.
My overall return rate is very small - maybe 2%. Given that a significant percentage of my sales are through GSP, I'd expect a handful of returns. Just today, I'm shipping out four GSP orders - which isn't abnormal.

That would be to easy and Common sense, but this did not happen. Should have happened, but did not. after what i just experienced, how can i trust ebay. I think Taylor Swift has a song about this.
"I will never never ever ever sell forever international again............"

Yea I got a bunch of misinformation from Ebay as well. The label they provided customer was not traceable. Had too find and provide who they shipped with and tracking they could follow. Then Buyer returned. Cant get a return label through Ebay, or any shipping providers. Ebays Policy. Send the Buyer, in my case, $75 dollars for the return label, to an unverified Buyer email address. Something they say not to do. Start to finish NIghtmare & no help from Ebay. Im out of the Ebay Game, Once my store Subscription I over.
