I just received an order with a shipping address as (Buyers name) General Delivery, Bradford, VT.
Is this the type of delivery where the addressee goes to the post office and presents proof of identity to pick up the package?
Still used for very rural and farm areas?
Thanks for responding.

That person would typically be required to rent a PO box, but some offices have a waiting list to rent one.

Follow up question:
At what point does the post office consider the package delivered?
When it arrives at the post office or when the buyer claims it?
I'm concerned it will show as late delivery if buyer waits a week to pick up the package.
eBay will need proof it was delivered.
Thanks to everybody for your responses. Most helpful!
