Freight Shipping

Hi all,

Does ebay have discounts for freight shipping? I have one cabinet 84" x 35" x 18" unpackaged weighs 90 pounds. If so how do I access it? Also, are there any other good options for 1500 mile Minnesota to Florida Journey.

Thank you,

Ed

Re: Freight Shipping

You can't purchase freight shipping through eBay. This page is a good reference for freight shipping on eBay and links to a list of freight carriers whose tracking integrates with eBay: https://www.ebay.com/sellercenter/shipping/shipping-on-ebay/freight-shipping

Research your options. You should speak with the carrier to determine if they offer packing services or if you need to handle that yourself, if they have a lift gate for residential delivery, what their insurance coverage is, do they have tracking and online viewable signature confirmation for delivery, what happens if the buyer refuses delivery for some reason, etc. Cover all your bases before diving in.

Keep in mind the risk factor. If a buyer files a claim (whether a true claim or a false claim), you're on the financial hook to deal with that. Some items are best sold with the Local Pickup Only option.

Many sellers use freight shipping quite successfully. If you jump in, do it with your eyes wide open. Learn all the potential outcomes before going that route.

Re: Freight Shipping

There is never a good option with freight, especially with places like Freightquote and Freightcenter. You'll get a price that seems good enough, ship your item and then a month later you'll get billed extra for some made-up nonsense like the weight or dimensions were different even though you measured and weighed it prior to shipping.

Maybe someone can post some good advice here because I've had nothing but grief any time something goes freight.

Re: Freight Shipping

That item would have been better off listing as local pick up, some items are just too large and heavy for shipping.Besides the chance of damage during shipping.

Re: Freight Shipping

Are you willing to pay the return shipping back to you if the buyer does not want it anymore and lies? I would never sell such a bulky, heavy and fragile item here. That one is best for local pickup only.
