I originally listed an item for sale on the desktop version of eBay. I marked "free shipping". I later revised the listing to charge for shipping on the eBay mobile app. I was satisfied that the change had been made.

The item then sold and it said "buyer paid shipping" and then it swapped back to saying that I was supposed to pay for shipping. Even though I took away that option. I also took a screenshot to prove that I was indeed charging for the shipping as a precautionary measure...

So, it's not a good idea to revise your shipping options on the eBay mobile app.

I would be wary about buying stuff that way as well. Its way too easy to miss details or a full description. I use the mobile app only when I have no other choice or when Ebay has a bonus bucks special that requires it. Its interesting how bonus bucks specials always have the higher payout on mobile purchases. You can kind of sense the desperation that they really want us to use the mobile app more.

I never do anything on the mobile app. I might look, but always go to my desktop to actually change things. Even worse than the free part, is that it is free Priority. ouch

Actually, I think it is a marketing aimed at those of that have new disposable income , are becoming the real driver/force in retail and those who are willing to spend it AND the way we purchase stuff - online using an app! Those Baby Boomers aren't buying as much, are saving up for Depends and Nursing Home costs and buy via a computer.

Did the buyer pay the shipping charge?

If so, you take that money and buy the shipping label.

All true but the app has been around for years now and they still have not figured out how to get it working right

or working well. I use a different third party app for my Ebay purchasing that is a lot more reliable and easier to work with. I dont think the Ebay apps main competition is their desktop - its other apps.

I would have replied sooner except their discussion group software isnt working much better - keeps losing my sign in and giving Authentication Ticket Mismatched errors and making me type my reply all over again.

I'm not sure on the meaning of your post. If the sale said "buyer paid shipping" then check the amount you listed the item for sale, then check the amount you received as payment. Is the shipping cost in there? You say "I took a screenshot to prove that I was indeed charging for the shipping".... that just sounds like ebay was just telling you print a shipping label and pay for it. If it charged the buyer shipping, that is included in the payment you received and then you use that exta money to pay for the shipping -- so the buyer gave you the money for the shipping cost. This sounds like you expected ebay to just print a prepaid shipping label for you as the buyer paid for it, and now, because ebay is telling you to pay the shipping, you think you are out that money......

On your item, does it say "Free Shipping" on it? I'm thinking the buyer did pay YOU the shipping cost. Which is how its done.

When you get that annoying red banner, along with saving with "copy and paste" you can also, when you get signed back in, sometimes see that you have content auto saved that you can load.

And it just happened to me again when typing this:( banner was high/hidden. Did not see it.

Hi tyler@ebay, please tell Khoros that, even in the background, the random survey pop-up invalidates the authentication ticket while a message is being composed.
