Flat Rate Shipping from UPS -Something New? Rehashed "stuff?"

Just got an eMail today from UPS announcing a new shipping program called

UPS® Simple Rate

https://www.ups.com/us/en/services/shipping/simple-rate.page?

Anyone have any experience with this service?

Looks like something similar to USPS FR Priority box rates, though a little higher.  Starts at 8.95 for extra small and goes up to 23.95 for extra large for ground shipping.  3-day select and 2-air have higher ranges.

Is this anything new or just a repackaging of the old rates into something more accessible to the masses>

Pages 72-73 here

Flat Rate Shipping from UPS -Something New? Rehashed "stuff?"

eCommerceBytes reported that they were testing out the service a couple of years ago with a select group of customers.

This is the first that I've seen it generally available, so perhaps they are just now launching it for all.

(Obviously I've not used it.  I like that they allow customer packaging, but the prices don't look very attractive unless I can get my UPS discounts off those rates).

Thanks for that link and additional info!  Interesting!  Takes the elephant 3 years to try to dance?

I didn't think those rates looked attractive vs USPS FRBs.

Wonder if Smiley LOL eBay will be adjusting its labels and calculator to reflect these new options of UPS FR shipping?
