This is a new one for me. My customers package is being returned to me because their forwarding has expired. I am sure I will get an Item not received for this. Will I be protected since the customer never changed their address in eBay or will I have to take the defect? thank you in advance for your answers.

You just have to show eBay that screenshot.
I have never had that problem before but on the INR just add the screenshot and eBay "Should" take care of it.
That being said eBay has sucky service for sellers and INR is usually always assumed as the sellers fault.
