Final value free on shipping

I print shipping labels at my house.  Per Ebay I save a % for using First class or priority mail.  They always recommend both, now i see why.  However they are charging me 10% on final fee on shipping so how can they say that we are saving when they are getting the difference.

My one question is when a buyer pays the correct shipping amount and i don't get a savings or extra money on shipping why is ebay still charging me 10%? They should see that i'm not making extra money on it.

So I'm loosing more money on my items i'm selling and not making a profit.   But Ebay is  that is not right.

I want to know also if i go to post office and pay there instead of printing label home will i still be charged final value fee on shipping?

Your PROFIT comes when you purchase inventory. If you're not taking in fvf, listing fees ect in to consideration when deciding on what to sell, you're failing yourself.

This has been discussed ad nauseam for years.  Yes, this is probably the most unfair thing eBay does, and yes, they stole probably millions of dollars from the sellers that way, and they will keep doing it.

It's not theft, it's leveling the playing field. It keeps dis-honest sellers from making their entire profit off of shipping fees,  and let's all sellers pay the same, whether shipping for "free" or not.

99% of all major sales sites charge fees for the total transaction, including shipping.

The entire "leveling the field" and "profit off shipping" line is old and tired load of bull.  When Ebay knows exactly how much is paid for shipping, which is most of the time, they should not charge FVF on the actual cost of the label.  If they truly wanted cost of shipping to be fair to the buyer, they do exactly that and put a draconian fee on the overage.  But that would be less profitable.

Oh, and "everyone's doing it" is a p-poor excuse.

Bitter little seller, did the big bad eBay hurt your profits when they stopped letting you get away with selling an item for $1 with $300 shipping?

Fact is the big A, Aunt bEtsy, the Walmart marketplace, and countless others have been charging for TOTAL transaction for years, long before eBay started doing it.

They also had problems with folks putting all their profits in shipping. They also didn't feel it was fair for folks with "free shipping" to have to pay transaction fees, where sellers who charged shipping could profit on shipping.

These are multinational companies, and shipping costs from each country fluctuate, heck some countries don't have their rates published online. So how is eBay, or any company, supposed to know what actual postage is, and be draconian to those who put their profits in shipping?

Rant all you want, but when eBay started charging fvf for the total transaction, many folks were happy, because it meant the cheats finally lost.
