FedEx label was not scanned but item was delivered to buyer, how do I fix delivery status?

I purchased my  FedEx Smart Post shipping through eBay. Dropped off at a local US Post Office. The item was delivered successfully on time to the buyer (the buyer confirmed via message) However, due to the label not being scanned my item shows like it was never shipped. The status stayed at label created. I contacted FedEx and they cannot help me because they have no record of the package as the label was not scanned. The US Post also has no record. I need eBay to fix the delivery status but there is no one to contact. Please help.

Technically you don't need tracking to show delivery on the order. It does matter in terms of seller metrics if you are concerned about TRS status.

If you are concerned about seller metrics, never use FedEx Smartpost /UPS Ground Saver (I think they recently switched who has the contract for this service with USPS). Those cheapest services hand off packages between the private carrier and USPS so you will not get reliable scans/tracking updates.

I don't think contacting eBay will fix that as they will only look for a delivery scan via tracking unless you can somehow convince them that the buyer message should suffice.

There are no scans because you used an unacceptable drop off point. You are lucky the package was delivered and not seized.

eBay cannot update delivery status for you. It's only updated (automatically) when there are tracking scans by the carrier.

It will stay at its current status. As long as the buyer does not file a claim you'll be fine.

I believe you cannot mail FedEx items anymore from the USPS post office.

I think I read that somewhere a few days ago...but people were able to do that in the past.

I suggest not doing that anymore.

Ebay didn't deliver the package, so how could they fix the tracking.

Next time, get it scanned when you drop it off.

Thank you for the information. In the future I will no longer select this type of shipping option. You are correct in that the hand off process is where things went wrong. I'm lucky the item was delivered.

I confirmed with both FedEx and the US Post Office that drop off could be done at either facility. The label has tracking for both FedEx and US Post. The problem was that neither one scanned the label at hand off. But as you mentioned, I was lucky the package got delivered and the buyer has no issue. She even tried to mark it as received, but couldn't find a way to do so. Same on my end, I can't update the delivery status. Thanks for your reply.

Then you received mis-information, probably from reps that aren't aware of the new rules. Check that thread I linked in my above post @pearlsofthepast .
