FedEx SmartPost Lost Package

Hi, I am - quite frankly - at the end of my rope, and desperately need advice on how to proceed. I will try to make this brief.

On October 8th I sold an item to a buyer, purchased SmartPost shipping (which I will NOT be doing again), and FedEx claims it was delivered the 10th. However, I got a message from the buyer that they did not receive the item, and they opened a case. Luckily, ebay sided with me. However, I feel morally obligated to help the buyer out, since they cannot file a claim with FedEx due to their rules it must be the shipper.

I looked it up, and everyone said there is way to file SmartPost packages through ebay. I went to the page, and my package is not listed there. It is blank, as I will show in the below attachment. I messaged ebay, and they said I was mistaken, and should file a claim on FedEx's website. FedEx's website says that SmartPost claims cannot be made online, so I called FedEx, and they directed me to ebay's SmartPost page once again...

I have been tossed back and forth between these 2 companies and I am tired. I'm just trying to help my buyer out. Is there a reason my package wouldn't show up in the SmartPost claims page? Do I have to wait X number of days? Or is my only hope in helping this buyer to call ebay? (I don't even know if their support number is still functioning...?)

Thank you so much for any response. This has been a source of stress for me, to the point I will probably never use FedEx again. It's honestly ridiculous.

That the package is missing on the page is the clearest reflection that the buyer's package is missing.

One mirrors the other: Is that so hard to understand?

Where did FedEx say that the package was delivered to?  SmartPost is normally delivered on pallets to USPS in the zip code of the customer, we (USPS) then take it to the address.

HOWEVER !!! FedEx is notorious about adding extra packages to the pallet that is not included within the stated contents, they also will claim inclusion of packages that are not actually on the pallet.

Did the label have a actual USPS tracking number (some have the barcode but no number)? If it had a number what does the tracking say when you put it in at usps.com?

Was it necessary for you to be rude? Knowing the package is missing does not in any way help - I was already running off of the assumption that it was missing, and if that screenshot and explanation were enough for Ebay or FedEx to confirm it missing (and I have already shown and explained to them), then I wouldn't be here asking what to do, now would I?

There's no way for me to look at the label itself now, but on the FedEx tracking it specifically says, "Delivery scheduled via FedEx Ground, not US Postal Service." I had directly dropped it off at FedEx, and there's no mention of it being handed off to USPS at any point during the process (the buyer's address is only a few hours away from me, which makes sense).

So, at the very least, I don't think I'll run into the issue of FedEx trying to pass it off as USPS's problem. But, thank you for that insight!
