FedEx Label will not print at the right size... the heck?

So I use a Zebra 4"X6" printer. All USPS labels automatically size properly to a 4"x6" document. However, when I use FedEx, the thing slaps a 4"x6" label into an 8.5"x11" document, and gives no other options for the bounding box size.  It works just fine for USPS, so I'm confused. Obviously, this adds an immense amount of processing time to FedEx shipments, and is annoying.

What the heck do I do to get FedEx labels to use an appropriate document size? I've also added a sample JPG of a blurred label and how it is automatically sized to show what I mean:

The labels from Fedex now appropriately format as of early/mid 2019. The formatting is no longer an issue for printing directly to 4x6 labels and no longer needs a workaround.

Not sure exactly what you are doing, if you are printing directly, or are saving to PDF and then printing.

If printing directly, I cant help, but @rfmtm probably can.

If saving to PDF, you can use various tools to crop and/or resize and then print. PDFXchange Viewer (or what is called PDFXChange Editor now) can do quite a bit with PDF docs and works well.

Alternatively, you can use the free Irfanview image viewer with the PDF plugin to open the PDF document, crop it, and print it.

I outlined a drag and drop system that works quite well for using Irfanview to process PDF labels in a thread a while ago. Basically a desktop shortcut to a batch file customized to crop/resize/print for a particular label type - drag and drop saved label PDF on the shortcut and it prints. A similar situation started happening to me when I wanted to print from firefox, had to go thru a bunch of hoops to finally print the size i wanted. So I swithed to Safari and have had no problems since. So maybe a different browser will help.

Hmm.. OK. I am trying to do a direct print, but it simply spits out a label with the mismatched document borders, as it's making the label 4"x6" with an 8.5"x11" border. It has nothing to do with the printer settings or system settings... saving as a PDF does the same thing... it gives a PDF with a 8.5"x11" border and there is no option to make it appropriately cropped.

For now I'm using a Photoshop action to make labels, but it really slows everything down regardless.

My FedEx and USPS labels print out as PDF's in an 8 1/2x11 format (with receipt bottom half on USPS labels), but I use a laser, and my eBay label prefs are set for that. Maybe that's where you need to check the setting (as I recall it is an option near the upper right when printing a purchased label)

Otherwise, I gave you a workaround that can automate what you are doing using Photoshop.

FedEx labels print to PDF, somewhere I found settings that allowed you to change the label size for FedEx, but I don't remember where.

I had a return with FedEx & I never could get the return label to print right. Eventually I printed it on printer paper & taped it in hoping it didn’t come off. I taped it on the box pretty good.

I wanted to add that my label was printing on 2 or 3 pages. It was huge. I wasted labels & ink. I have a regular Canon printer.

Are you still having problems?

You want to make sure your browser is opening PDF files with Adobe and not with its built in reader.  Then it should be easy make any adjustments in the preview window to fit the label.

Yes, still the exact same problem, still the exact same source. The document has borders too large for a 4x6 label and still cannot be sized without taking it into Photoshop.

You need to post a screen shot of the entire preview window, and I can likely tell you what is wrong.  If you don't want to post here, send it to me in a private message.

Also what OS and browser are you using?

Same issue here using firefox and Win10. fedex labels open in acrobat viewer as 8.5x11 page so I have to go through several steps to crop and then print. There must be a fully automated way to get this working just like USPS labels.

I had the same exact problem, finally in frustration I called called Fed ex, their answer: use Google Chrome, problem solved!
