FEDEX label printing SWITCHES to USPS upon printing

I have items listed with FEDEX  alone offered for shipping. Since november +\- I have set up shipping labels which have all the indications of printing out a FEDEX label and, upon printing magically transfer to USPS.

The first time this happened I didn't notice and walked into the FEDEX drop to have them tell me 'wrong label' at which I astonished look down to see this is the case.

Talked to ebay rep this morn who 'informs' me there is no record in aaaall of ebay of this ever happening. EVER.

Looked over all the procedures which I have done successfully for years and haven't been able to print a FEDEX label again yet.

Anyone have this happen do tell!

Re: FEDEX label printing SWITCHES to USPS upon printing

Well let's see. The fact that you printed a USPS label, applied it to the box and carried it to FedEx without ever once noticing that it was not in fact a FedEx label is absolute proof that you simply are not paying attention to what you are doing.

Here is what happened.

When you click "Print Label" you are presented with a page on which there is a "print ;abel" button.

BUT  BEFORE you print that label you should review the information in front of you. eBay defaults to a particular shipping service. Since there are many services and eBay can only select one then the likelihood is they selected USPS.

BEFORE you print the label check to see what is what and change it as necessary. Clearly you did not do that.

I get that situation all the time. I tell my customer first class mail and eBay defaults to Priority, or a flat rate box, or who knows what or why.

It is not eBay's fault that you are not paying attention.

I ship many FedEx boxes and I have never had a print out of anything other than what I specified.

Was it a fedex smart post label? They look similar to a USPS label. And even have a USPS tracking number.

Re: FEDEX label printing SWITCHES to USPS upon printing

As stated above the newer SmartPost labels do look very much like the USPS labels and some FedEx locations will try to refuse them because of this.  They have to read the small print on the label.  I've had the similar issues with the SmartPost labels when purchased direct from the FedEx site, as their process leaves off the 'G' ground marker.
