My package is being held due to a counterfeit label. I printed the label directly though Ebay, so I know that's not the case. The tracking # shows it's being held due to unpaid postage, but USPS informed me it's actually being held due to being counterfeit and the package isn't going to be delivered or sent back. I filed a case through USPS and they closed it stating nothing will be done due to counterfeit label. I called USPS back and they informed me to call Ebay, and Ebay informed me to call the Post Office. Does anyone know how to resolve this or how you can dispute it. Thanks.

Hi @rockinthreadsrecords . Which item was it?
What does the tracking say? Can you post the last couple of scans?

I filed a case through USPS, and they stated that it's not being returned due to a counterfeit label. I have contacted USPS almost every day since Thanksgiving and getting the massive run around. I should just move on, but I can't accept this as an answer. They can't give me any details on how the label is counterfeit. They won't let me dispute it. It's theft at this point. I'll just keep emailing them every day, hopefully I'll get someone to look into it rather than accusing me of counterfeiting labels.

Thanks for the link, sounds like they are getting the same treatment as me. USPS refusing to return to sender or deliver it due to them mistakenly scanning this as counterfeit. Nothing I can really do except to keep emailing them every day. It's only a 50.00 order but still it's just plain wrong.

Same issue. They didn't contact me at all, just confiscated a legit item(and relative consequence, it is a one of a kind boxed 65 year old set of hifi tweeters). Label made through ebay, so if anyone is guilty of fraud, it's eBay for issuing a bogus label.

I'm pretty steamed, and would LOVE for the authorities to contact me about it. I will play that game on principal. It really sucks to basically know that at any point the USPS can absolutely steal a package with zero explanation or recourse, and the actually responsible party isn't culpable.
Where do all these packages go?
I'm pressing and hoping I'm wrong, but it's been over a month.

I had the same issue. They refunded the buyer and USPS kept the $700 camera. This was my final straw dealing with ebay and I will not let this go. I have contacted several lawyers who are all willing to take the case.

USPS issued that bogus label, not eBay.

Ironic how each party blames the other party. If there is proof the seller paid then ebay AND the USPS are both equally TO BLAME.

This has happened to me MULTIPLE times in the last several months and customer service reps ignore my requests and deflect it on to me and patronize me. Has anyone found a way to get upper level management on the phone or in an email?

I spent the better part of an hour on the phone with CSR about a case. They told me to kick rocks, that they didn't create the label(though they took my money for it). I explained that USPS stated the item was claimed as evidence of a mail fraud. It was flagged automatically, not by a human(info via USPS postmaster's intraweb scans). I tried to tell ebay this and they said they can't see that on the tracking info page. Last year, customers who had this issue saw "counterfeit label" as part of the USPS tracking info. Now it just says insufficient postage, will not be delivered. I asked ebay to just call USPS and they said they cannot do that...while I literally was on the phone with them. In the end they refunded my for postage and closed the buyer's claim for item not delivered in my favor and refunded me the postage I paid. They refused any kind of repair to the buyer. So they softly admitted to screwing up, but didn't own it. Then they opened an investigation into the issue asking for more info, which is decidedly backwards in terms of process to declare anything in terms of who is at fault or not. The entire process was flat out maddening. It's like asking a politician for a yes or no answer.
I've been buying and selling on here since year one. I don't care if it's been one year. You drop the ball you own it. But eBay seems to have a situation with USPS they need to fix beyond making sure the tracking no longer says anything about counterfeit labels, which is allowing eBay to wiggle out of their responsibility in providing a safe marketplace for everyone.
I just had a second confirmed counterfeit label situation, and it looks like there might be another as well. I'm pretty frustrated now I will be likely refunded buyers for a considerable amount and lose valuable income/products.
I am quite prepared to pursue this legally and will be documenting this next round thoroughly.
