Ebay Not Charging Correct Shipping

Hello! I recently changed my shipping costs to calculated shipping so that I can easily cover shipping costs and tracking on my trading cards. However, right after I did it, I noticed that when I was visiting the listing page, it was only charging $0.87 to my own area for shipping. This is not okay. I have been over all of the options to see if I have done something wrong, and there are no other options for me to correct this. Now, on all of my listings, it is stating that the buyer will have to read my details or contact me for information on shipping! This is so frustrating to me. Does anybody have any insight as to why this is even happening?

Re: Ebay Not Charging Correct Shipping

Sounds like you maybe chose a shipping option that is mailed with stamps only.

Re: Ebay Not Charging Correct Shipping

I assume you are using the special envelope rate with tracking? (which I am not familiar with....)

I seem to remember reading that the envelope size MUST be as shown from this line:

When you go to print the shipping label, are the dimensions of the envelope 6x4x1 ?

I don't think you want or need 1st class parcel rates

Re: Ebay Not Charging Correct Shipping

I’m not using the special Ebay labels for trading cards only because I’ve heard tracking doesn’t update properly. So I am going for USPS First Class rates to get proper tracking (especially if someone buys a lot of cards at once), which is what it shows on my end in my listing editor. It says, “Buyer will pay $x.xx-$x.xx for shipping,” but it doesn’t actually reflect it properly on my listing once it’s live. I’ve had cards get lost before, or reported as not delivered, and I’m hoping this will deter anyone who might lie about it. The other thing is when someone orders a bunch of cards internationally, it costs over $13 to track; so I definitely want that to reflect properly.

The cheapest way to list it as a package for me is the USPS First Class option, but there’s no specification on Letter or Package in their option list. It just says USPS First Class and mentions that “Buyer pays $4.85-$5.25.” So I think it knows what it should be doing, but isn’t actually applying it? I’m not sure what’s going on there.

Re: Ebay Not Charging Correct Shipping

Go to revise the listing and you may have to click on the "add services" to get to the spot to click on the "calculate shipping" under the area that has the shipping options, that is the spot that you can select letter or package and put in your package details.  That might be the difference.

I currently do not see shipping options on your listings.

87 cents is the postage cost for a  2-ounce letter.  You want to be charging buyers for a 2-ounce First Class package.

Unfortunately, the latest revision of the eBay listing form(s) has eliminated the menu for choosing "Package type" which gives a choice of letter, flat (AKA Large envelope) or package, so i'm not sure how you can change that.

The online postage cost for a First Class package up to 4 ounces ranges from $3.59 to $4.13, based on distance, so one workaround would be to set up a flat price for shipping, about $4.00. or a little more.
