This is exactly the same thing that I’ve been experiencing! I put in the weight, all of the dimensions and it still comes up short and I wind up paying the difference. What is going on? EBay shipping calc is way off and it's costing me money.

No; it's not.
You have items sold that show 'seller has not chosen a shipping option' so then the Calculator cannot calculate correctly.
EVERYTIME someone posts this- it is user error.
You need to look at EACH & EVERY listing to see what you have chosen for
Shipping type (USPS, UPS, Fedex)
Weight
Size
You are doing something wrong.

When you don’t have shipping set up in a listing that will happen.
You have 11 listings out of 57 that have Shipping not Specified. You need to fix those.
I was under the impression that you can use eBay Standard Envelope for Trading Cards, Stamps, Postcards & Coins up to $20 you’ve sold several much higher than $20.00. That could be an issue for you as well.

We can probably help if you provide an example with specific details, including package weight and dimensions, service used (e.g., Priority Mail?), both ZIP Codes, and both exact prices (i.e., what the buyer paid for shipping and what you paid to ship).

Is the problem mostly with the Harper’s weekly? You have those shipping as media mail but because they are listed under collectibles, media mail won’t be one of the options that ebay gives you on the label. Media mail only comes up for ebay labels in the item was listed. In a certain categories.
I’m not sure if Weekly’s can be sent media mail but if they can, you can buy your label at usps, Stamps or Pirateship.

Good catch. Harper's Weekly, being a periodical (magazine), is not eligible for Media Mail. eBay allows sellers to choose MM when listing, but then won't allow them to purchase a MM postage label for items listed in most ineligible categories, such as Collectibles.

The only time I have had postage not calculate correctly is when I made a mistake.
