EBAYS Refund Process Sucks

I am trying to resolve a problem with EBAY.  Instead of actually helping me or the seller they direcet me to HERE. A non-monitored discussion board - deferring the responsibility to a bunch of users who are are lost as I am. As much MONEY as EBAY makes this is a ROOKIE MISTAKE.  Customer Service MalPractice. What happended to True customer service?

These boards are monitored by a lot of knowledgeable people who have much experience with many types of problems.

If you will state your problem in a calm, coherent manner, I am sure you will get much helpful information.

  Why don't you try it?

Re: EBAYS Refund Process Sucks

I'm sorry you feel that we are all a bunch of users that are as lost as you are.  While it may be true that it is not a good customer service practice to direct people with issues to a discussion board, I'm afraid that many companies are doing just that.  It isn't only eBay.  Their logic is, I suppose, that they are getting free support for their customers experiencing problems.  It appears that eBay and many other companies, like many people want something for nothing, but they forget that you get what you pay for.

Frankly, I wonder what makes people stand in line at Wally World to use the self checkout.  Since the store doesn't give them a discount for doing the work that is normally done by a paid employee, I find it odd, but yet people do it.

Admittedly, we are not, for the most part, eBay employees and our advice is merely our opinions based on our experience.  If you feel it is inadequate,it is probably best that you continue to attempt to contact eBay directly.  Best of Luck to you.

Have you taken time to read and understand eBays Money back Guarantee policy?  It has been around for a while my guess 2-3 years maybe more.

You know the best way to get advice is not to insult the people trying to give it to you...

@singlespeeder37

The link you posted takes you to eBay's Customer Service page, which contains links to your recent purchases, eBay's help pages, and eBay's phone number.  eBay does not provide most Customer Service through email, for legitimate and not-so-legitimate reasons.

You can probably get most questions answered by fellow users here, but if you're more comfortable getting help from an official eBay representative, give them a call.

as far as insults go, it's not really a biggie.

Re: EBAYS Refund Process Sucks

@7606dennis  Thanks, but certainly was not attempting to Insult the people on the board - but when I came here I found so many people with similar issues it is hard not to consider the fact that many "... are as lost as I am ..."
I have been a user and contributor on many boards like this - I am far from a neophyte or first-time-frustrated-customer.  I have been on boards for software, commercial products, music instruments, automotive products, etc.

My issue is with eBay.  As a system developer of other (large) companies post-sales support web-sites I am not impressed.  There is LOTS of material (i.e. words and graphics) on their site and sub-sites, but the navigation and instructions are IMHO not clear.

I am Not a fan of large companies deferring almost all customer support to communities.

Seriously, a group of people looking for help is just not the same as an Expert person representing the company and referring to it's Knowledgebase.  And have you actually had a successful call with an eBay domestically based customer service rep? (hope so but I have not).

I Am a fan of the self-service lines at retail stores, although I am Not a fan of complete automation - although I am a computer professional I Value people above automation.  Hence my frustration with multi-national, multi-billion dollar industry leaders not investing in customer friendly sites or processes.

Re: EBAYS Refund Process Sucks

John - thanks but I am well aware of the policy.  That was NOT the problem. I needed to stop a refund request so that eBay could release the seller from the notices and any bad ratings from their perception that he did not provide me a refund.  I did Not need any policy, I needed to cancel the refund request. I eventually found the link and resolved the issue - but it TOOK HOURS ....

Re: EBAYS Refund Process Sucks

ANNA - I was in No Way insulting anyone on this board.  If you read my message it is about eBay.

When I was routed here I found so many people with similar issues it is hard not to consider the fact that many "... are as lost as I am ..."

How is stating that fact an insult?  My issue is with eBay's confusing maze of pages and messages with the first routing to the discussion board.  See my reply to @7606dennis. Have a good day : )

Re: EBAYS Refund Process Sucks

Too bad you didnt state the problem in your op, you would have been helped instantly by one of the very experienced members in here...and yes, you will see lots of newbie problems in here..thats what the boards are for..but with the millions of Ebay members worldwide..I dont think thats a bad average.
